IF he turns out to be a road grader, Zeke and Pollard find success the run game flourishes and the play action game benefits.

I can see the logic in that.

IF Williams turns out to be good, not great , good say seven sacks good. Fowler turns out to be a good pick up, not world saving but good. Say Seven sacks good and Tank again isn't world beater good

Just Pro Bowl Good Say 10 sacks good.

IF Ridgeway can just get with Bohanna, Galimore and Urban slow down, not stop, slow down the gashing we took last year

Now we still have to find a LB but LVE aint trash and Micah is pure gold we'll see about Cox

Josesph, Bland, Joseph you're on notice ! Dan Quinn orchestrating ? I'm kinda looking forward to seeing what we've got Especially with the D

I don’t believe JJ at all that he was 16th on their board. Not at all. If he was their guy— why were they fielding calls and looking to trade back?

They got caught with their pants down again and are now crafting a narrative to convince the world they got the guy they wanted and they are the most competent football minds on the planet.

JJ is so confident and competent he waves the printout of the board around at the presser lol (sarcasm)— but notice no one could actually read it— just had to take his word for it smh lol

They have no reason to lie about his ranking. I mean if they passes over the two G's then maybe explain themselves, but they were wiped out. The other options were probably touching tags but not as big of a need, and G talent drops much more than the other positions

OK we took Smith with the 24th pick.

Guess what ?

The Cowboys had him rated higher than both Kenyon Green and Zion Johnson.

How Epic would the rueing have been if all 3 were available and we still took Smith?

I think we would have crashed the Cowboy's Zone server !!!

There is something to be said about being steadfast and, instead of panicking and trading up, the War Room Daddies relied on pretty good scouting reports of our lads.
Some of our '22 draft class will be serviceable, some will be stinkers.
But, me huddled masses, they will are our guys.
Let us like our draft guys until we don't like them anymore, chaps.

If true, for me that's disappointing and I was all for drafting Kenyon.
When hearing Smith was higher on the board I thought we got our man, who they see as an eventual Tackle, but also a floor of a very decent Guard.
Now you're making me think that Jerry had a number of hardcopies of the board and at the presser he was just going to show the one that showed him to be right.

My guess is that we would of drafted both Johnson and Green (depending on knee) ahead of Smith but they went higher then anyone anticipated. I hate all the information from podcasts saying Smith was a 3rd rounder. Why did most every mock by insiders have him in the 1st then.

It did seem we were drafted more for need then bpa. Think the 2nd pick was an example of this. Looks like it came down to McBride, Tolbert, and Williams. McBride goes right before them and I’m guessing Tolbert was higher on their board but chose Williams because the ends were coming off quick. Fortunately Tolbert was available in the 3rd and I think he will put up similar number that Gallup did as a Rookie.

I would question whether his 16th position on our board was based on: position flex, ceiling/floor, now/developmental outlook.

At what point did we start fielding calls to trade down?
Sensible to of considered it before the draft (especially the way this class was made up with strength in the middle).
Definately sensible after Zion and Kenyon went so early (and we were obviously not going to trade up).
It's quite conceivable that with the algorithms these teams have then we assumed/expected either the Titans or the Bengals to jump us and we were covering our backs (with a bit of due dilligence) in case of that scenario.

It seems they wanted a bigger, more powerful player so I could see them taking Smith over Johnson. Smith vs Green would have been interesting with Green likely providing more immediate impact versus Smith's position flexibility.

Listening to Eatman recap Jerry’s presser, he was saying Tyler Smith was the 16th rated player on their board but he had a 2nd round grade. Lewis Cine was the highest rated 2nd rounder on their board (Smith was second). They took Smith at #24 out of need for OL.

It’s a perfect example of BPA at position of need.
