Would going back only 20 years make you feel better? And would going back 27 years and making the stat a little better change the pathetic state of the franchise for the last quarter century?

This isn't a small sample. It's 26 years without even reaching the conference title game, something that happened over half the time up through the Jimmy Johnson years. Trying to spin it in any way is idiocy.
No. Are you angry for some reason? Where did I pretend our recent history is any good? I'm just saying the timing plays a role in what the results show and it's often cherry picked. Sheesh some of you are kooky

Part timer? He's not doing it all by himself either, it's been said a million times its a collaborative effort by the front office and coaches and scouts .
Not far from how some other owners do it in the dark but without putting their neck on line.
lol, do you think any GM in the history of the NFL would feel comfortable with admitting he doesn't watch film on players? Don't you think the owners expect their GM's to watch film on players? And would any be happy with a GM that only spent time doing the things he wanted to do and not every aspect of the job they are hired to do?

Those were Jimmy’s teams / remnants, 25 or so years ago, it became Jerry’s team, hence the demarcation.
No, I don't think that is the reason for the demarcation at all here. This is a NFL CBS post right? I think it just happens to use a cutoff that highlights our recent and not so recent history of not winning anything. Or are you thinking CBS wrote this to specifically cover the Cowboys since Jimmy left?

Lol....do you actually think he doesn't watch film? Jerry is in on almost all the coaches meeting, you actually believe he doesn't. ..lol

Film as in prospects for FA and the draft, not game films. He needs to watch game films to approve the game plans.

Why not go back to 1971?

That 25 year mark says there are fans on this forum 30 and down that have never really seen any playoff success form their team.

The reason the 25, 26 or 27 years fo frustration doesn't bother me as much as it does others is because I have the whole enchilada, been watching since 60 and and they became my team in 68.

The gross futility of the last 25 years is fact, it is real. Us that balanced by 8 trips and 5 wins previous to that? Yes, for some of us. But what was posted was also undeniable fact. We wwere once fans of a proud and winning franchise. Now we are fans of a franchise that is proud of itself.

Posts like these make me laugh. Before the girl blossomed up to 300 lbs, she was pretty and thin.
No, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying often when one uses a breakdown of a specific number of years as compared to a slightly different number of years the two results are drastically different. It doesn't mean the one used is wrong and it doesn't mean the one not shown is wrong either. I've watched for years as this comparison has gone from the last 12 years to the last 18 years and 20 years and now 25 years. It's factual but often agenda driven. Like if an announcer says a team has won two out of their last three games. Well if you go to four games it's 2-2. Not sure why the panties got all twisted there

I wonder what boards would have been like if the internet was up in Tom Landry's first 12 years. Until he won a SB.
Then what would they been like in the 80's, when things went South.
Sorry, but one situation is an expansion team, and even in early 80's the team made several championship games.. It was really late 86-89 where it was dismal. Jimmy totally revamped the organization and had us winning a SB in 4 years.
The SB appearance drought was 14 years, now we are almost double and the owner talks more trash than anyone in the league. All the false bravado got us nothing... It's so tiring following the Jones boys.
BTW they are not big spenders, he was not buying any SB's in the early years. He has spent big money on a couple of free agents in reality.

Because he said he doesn't. But he has lied often.

I never heard him said he don't watch film, I heard him speak to a players' tape, you have to have seen the tape to comment on it.

Also hired a coached 2 different that won 3 superbowls
Hired one coach that the build a team that won 3 SBs.
That team won the 3rd in spite of the second coach and that is straight from the mouth of Darren Woodson.
And if Jerry is such a great GM then how come we haven’t made an NFC championship with the next six hires?

You must submerge into complete misery, or you will be hobbled by the fanbase here.

He hired 2, Jimmy wasn't the coach of the third superbowl. Call it what you want. Bottom line is he could've lost that superbowl but he didn't did he?

So what about the next 26 years?
What’s Jerry done?

He's kept the team relevant with moderate success and without championships. Is it ideal? No. Do we want more? Sure. The Jones' not going anywhere so if you have an issue with that you have your choices.
