Those are questions that you have. I have no concerns about Lamb at all. The guy is a #1 and he proved that last year no doubt for me. Gallup only has to recover. He is a high end #2.
Shultz is the #2 or #3 pass catcher in this offense. Washington is better than Wilson in my eyes. Then we have the rookie. Personally, I am not worried at all about it.
Now if Gallup can never recover, we are thin, but you can make decisions based on him not coming back.
When did Lamb prove he’s a #1? Because of big stats against bad teams? He’s never gone against a teams #1 CB like Jalen Ramsey for a whole game. Remember when Gallup had to do it against the Jets in 2019 when Cooper went down. Not everyone can be a #1.
Washington in college was by far better than Wilson but given their pro careers Wilson was a monster with the ball in his hands after the catch. Can’t say the same about Washington.
As for Tolbert who knows. Hope he can be another Gallup or Wilson.
The team is not “stacked” in terms of high end talent. We have about 4 guys that if they live up to it can be a #2. Jury is out to see if any can be a true #1.
A #1 is someone who you know is going to 75% of the time win the battle no matter who is across from him and rarely drops it. That’s not any receiver on this team yet.
In the teams history since the 90s since I’ve watched the only #1s they’ve had were Irvin, A. Bryant (for 1 year) Dez and TO. .
Galloway, Glenn and Rocket were nice players but not #1s when they got here. Miles Austin is borderline because of the great chemistry he had with Romo but his career flashed and as quick as he ascended he was gone. CD will prove himself this year which category he’s in.
So far CD has gotten a lot of yards on free plays when the other team is offsides and he runs go routes from the slot. The play in the Pro Bowl and vs Minn says he can do it at the highest level. We just haven’t seen it consistently without him losing focus. He had 2-3 drops alone in the season opener vs TB.
