Final 2022 NFC East Standings Prediction:
  1. Philadelphia Eagles
  2. Dallas Cowboys
  3. Washington Commanders
  4. New York Giants
Let’s tackle the elephant in the room. Philly on top right there stings. It does. There is nothing on this planet worse to see than the Eagles’ successes. But I also promised to be realistic. That means I have to realize that no team has repeated as NFC East kings since 2004. Nearly two decades of evidence show that someone else will unseat Dallas this year.

If I am being really honest, Philadelphia also took more steps forward than Dallas did this offseason. Dallas didn’t get worse, but the Eagles just made bigger strides.

Before we sound the fire alarms, Dallas gets into the playoffs as a Wild Card. With the seven-team format, their 4-2 NFC East record paired with their overall record should propel them into the playoffs. On the Eagles slide, I think Dallas wins the second matchup in Week 16 and does so in the midst of a hot streak gearing up for the playoffs.

I want to be wrong here and would love another season of running the table in the division on the way to another divisional title and playoff berth. But, the NFL is an unpredictable, parity-driven, ever-changing league. Hopefully, the ‘Boys can get it done in 2022.

We lost a lot of talent
Philly gained a bunch.
Is it enough to overtake us?

Eh they have the 3rd best QB in the division and that is a sad commentary. They all these weapons but Hurts cannot connect with them. He is simply not that guy. That means the Eagles are going to be reliant on a defense to carry which got better on paper, but many a time we have seen teams load up with defenders on paper only for it not to mesh on the field. Basically I have seen nothing that tells me the Eagles closed what was a sizable gap. It is certainly going to be closer but there was a sizable gap between the Cowboys and Eagles (really there was a large gap between the Eagles and every team that made the playoffs in either conference).

I hope this does not happen but:

If the Cowboys potentially have to play other teams in the NFC East without Collins, Williams, and Tyron Smith, Prescott and his offense will be hard-pressed to find success. There are great receivers and running backs available. But if the quarterback doesn’t have enough time to make a throw and the backs can’t even make it out of the backfield, Dallas is going to seriously struggle in a division they swept in 2021.

The one thing you didnt mention is the coaches !
which team has the better coaching staff and HC?
I dont think much of mike and kellen, Quinn has done good.
Phil I really dont know except I wonder why they decided to roll with hurts again, he should be a bkup, or like taysom hill, a guy you use a
few times each game.
For phil to rise up, their coaches need to also be better.

I think a dark horse is the giants, they have all new coaches, who might get more out of jones and the offense, and that is what
has been holding them back, is no offense. And is barkley done, or was it the coaching?

Wash got wentz, but I dont see where that will help, as hienke was pretty good, but they could not stop any teams pass rush.
And their defense was suddenly porous last season. Right now I dont think much of rivera and his staff, they need to be way better.

I see picking Philly to win the division an indictment on the entire NFC East. How do we stoop so low as to allow a team with a running back playing quarterback win the division? If Dallas doesn't win the division it's going to be either the Giants or 'Skins. Not to a team with a gimmick at quarterback.

Eagles aren't going to be nearly as good as people think.

Mark my words.

You would be right. That is, unless they figure out that Carson Strong is a better QB than Hurts.

All these rankings are is a reflection of what people think of the two off seasons. I do think it will be a struggle between Dallas and Philly for first place. Will probably come down to injuries.

:omg::eek::eek: Did Philadelphia make a trade for Herbert in the offseason. The national media thinks Dean and Davis are Donald and Parsons. It was bad enough when the media acted like Cooper was our number 1 receiver last season, Gregory was our number 1 pass rusher and La’el was our top tackle. This season is going to be fun. Last year Fitzmagic was leading the Football Team to the NFCCG. Oh well.

You can brush them off that easily. Even with Hurts they made the playoffs last year. And they added at least 2 or 3 pro bowl level types at key positions. Hurts is also entering his 3rd season and if he is going to make a leap to legitimate QB it would be this year. And he now has big time weapons to throw to in AJ Brown, Goedert, and rookie WR from last year. Hurts can definitely hurt you with his legs. Can he develop more as a passer?

Key for the Cowboys will be can the defense take the next step to an elite/shutdown unit? They will have to shore up the run D for that.

Realistic outlook. :lmao: Lost me as soon as I seen that and the Eagles winning.
It is only as realistic as the writers opinion, and those that believe it. More like unrealistic.

Dallas are the current NFCE Champions, and they remain the favorite until some team beats them.
I follow that rule every year. Except the 2021 season when the fraud Washington team won by default in 2020. Taking advantage of the Dak-less / OL injured Dallas team of 2020.

Until Hurts shows otherwise, this is why Dallas is still favorites. Every year, the Eagles are favorites and off-season winners. From the media as well, as our own fans, or many of them.
That is the norm on this place.

Eagles on paper may have the better off-season in the eyes of some (the old eye test reasons). But Dallas did not really do all that bad. Addition by subtraction in a way, or at least stayed even.
Let's see it on the field goes without saying. I am not going to get over hyped now, nor in TC though.

Yeah, exactly. Philly isn't winning the east. I know it's the trendy way to go, but they will still trot out that qb and take a beat down from Dallas.

There are a lot of Philly slobberers on here. Many times I believe they are more Eagles fans than Cowboys fans.

I never stated otherwise. Just remember that the Eagles still made the playoffs and if Hurts shows improvement this is no cake walk. You can sit there and now worry about it all you want, but its a real thing.

As far as the Cowboys it comes down to D improvement and the state of the Oline. Personally I think if and when Tyron Smith goes down this line and offense will be in real trouble again.

Most of us know that Zeke cant go anywhere without huge holes and great blocking. Thats where the dominoes start to fall with bad Oline play.

Think of what the Eagles did last year. They started off somewhere between balanced to pass heavy. Hell, they only ran the ball 3 times against us, not counting Hurts. They went 3-6.

Then they're schedule softened up and they went to a run heavy offense. Hurts was part of that offense. They went 6-2. They have a pretty soft schedule this year so I think they'll stay ahead in the win column. Might even have a better record than us until we play them in week 6. So at what point would you pull the QB? It's a tricky situation. Even though they aren't winning through the air, they may be winning on the ground and Hurts is part of that run game. I don't think they pull Hurts if the team has an above .500 record.
