I was flipping through channels and on the Bon Appetit channel they were going through different garlic preparations (whole, chopped, minced etc.) and giving recommendations on when to use each style preparation. They actually did slice some garlic with a razor and the text header for recommended use was "Prison Pasta"

I enjoy the classics like Cool Hand Luke or Bridge Over the River Kwai. Or even current movies about past times in lockup such as Green Mile. Nowadays though between the insane prison gangs and man-rape scenes, not exactly classic viewing.

Bridge on the River Kwai and Stalag 17 were classics. Both great movies with great performances. You left out the Great Escape, another classic.

Shawshank and Cool Hand Luke are easily the top 2 IMO.
Not really close for me.

but plenty of good options below the GOATs.

American Me -- this gets tougher as prison movies to me need to take place with about 75% or more of the movie set in prison.
The Great Escape

For the most part I could not be bothered with black and white movies. I leave that to artsy chicks.
