he was touted way before that.....and we can't disregard what he did. he had the team on the verge, loaded, needed a QB to get over the hump and got it done. its never easy
He wasn't. There were many more who didn't think much of him as a HC. And when Brady got there, he stupidly tried to run that downfield long developing passing attack. Brady was getting killed, and so he was forced to change it.

See thats just the thing.... you said that those quarterbacks were physically more talented than Dak... but Dak had better numbers than they had at the 5 year mark of their careers. So if they turned out better to win more than one playoff game, how can you say Dak can't or won't???

Again, at year 5 or 6, Dak had better numbers than all of them totally except for maybe Manning, but Dak was able to statistically do things better than Manning at that particular mark in their careers. So to say they were able to win more than one playoff game as their careers matured, but Dak won't be able isn't fair honestly.

On another note, its hilarious the excuses that are made for Matt Stafford who was selected in the first round. "He was with bad teams or he didn’t have this or that". Matthew Stafford was selected in the first round, so he's EXPECTED to change the misfortunes of the team around him. If Stafford was as good as some of you say, then he could put the team on his back like elite quarterbacks have done in this league. 15 quarterbacks in the league would have won the superbowl with that Rams team, including Dak. Not taking nothing away from Stafford, he's pretty damn good, but its amazing at the expectations of a 4th rounder like Dak thats greater than those 1st and 2nd round quarterbacks in whom he shared comparable stats, if not better in most categories at this point in their careers.
I dont know why you keep bringing up where he was drafted as an excuse. Once you are in the show you are in the show. Compare Romo, Brady, Warner, Moon all of them to a qb taken in round one. Once you are the QB you get compared to other QBs. Dak has been in the league 6 years. The where he was drafted thing is over.

He was never tier one. Doesn't win playoff games w/o that tremendous D and Marshawn backing him.

C'mon Kman, we don't have to go thru the team around a QB to evaluate how the QB has played.

Over Wilson's tenure he has been outstanding. There is a reason why he is in a disproportionate # of highlight plays each year. The man creates plays for his team.

there were many that did. he was well respected in the coaching community. and are you saying he tried something, didn't work and then he adjusted the game plan to his QB....what a novel idea. you talk about that as if you are criticizing him.

C'mooooon, Mck, we don't have to attribute thoughts to people that they don't have!!!!

I don't think that way at all. Russell is a good QB, not great. He's a big play QB who has major issues w/ consistently moving the ball. That's why you see him in highlight reels. Which, BTW, means you are doing what you accused me of doing, an evaluation based on weak data!!!!!

A "good leader" is what you call somebody when they don't have any skills to brag about, but still want to be nice.

It's like saying someone is a "hard worker" or "gym rat" instead of "we like em, but they're not that great".
The whole "great leader" nonsense about Prescott has produced nothing worth mentioning with one of the most talented teams in the league every year since he entered the league.

I have always criticized Arians. His type O gets the QB killed, same as Mike Martz.

Not tried something, insisted on running an O that did not fit his QB, not even a little.

The Cousins hate baffles me.

He is literally better than Dak in almost every metric, but people here act like he's a bum and Dak is a GOAT.
I think Cousins primetime issues are why he gets the hate but yeah I gotta agree I dont see why he gets so much hate.

I would say Dak has the running ability over Cousins but until I see him run again I cant say that.

This example is definitely proven over and over. Once a QB gets paid, the team gets cash strapped. I think the NFL should put in a max contract league determined salary. One player on Offense. One player on Defense. Max contracts are 2 years only. Max contracts have a range. Salary does not count against cap.

but his offenses worked. his philosophy was attack down field and pressure defense....but again, he adjusted...didn't he? perhaps he liked his OL a little too much and his OL is good.

I don't rate him as one of the top coaches in the league, but he is/was one of the better ones.

How did I attribute anything to you?? :huh:You specifically said his success was due to the defense & Marshawn.

The highlight reel simply backs up what you see from him every game. An elite level QB who makes plays very few others can even with a dismal offensive line for most of his career.

Over the course of his career, if you asked all the GM's, the only ones who wouldn't consider Russ an upgrade are the ones who had Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Mahomes. Tier 1 all day in my book.

If we want to play stats since 2016

Cousins has played 10 or more games then prescott.

cousins:
passing yards, tds, td %, comp %, qbr, , y/a, ay/a, y/g .

Dak:
wins, win%, winning drives, less turnovers both int/fumbles

In playoffs....Cousins has the better comp% and qbr

So if you want to look at stats Cousins > Dak. And that's with cousins being on the pathetic Football Team for two years and Vikings OL being trash tier compared to the cowboys

If Cousins played for the Cowboys and Dak played for the Vikings Dak wouldn't be a QB in the league anymore and Cousins would be ranked by many a top 10 QB. Cousins is a better QB then Dak as a whole, Dak has just been given a much better situation professionally. I'm not saying Cousins is great either, just saying most of the Dak being so good stuff is hyperbole. Dak stunk up the field for at least 5 games last season. If the defense didn't get 40 TO's the Cowboys wouldn't have even been in the playoffs for Dak to stink it up again. If the NFC East improves at some point Dak's going to be looked at as a pretty average player quickly.

Thats fair enough. Now at this point in his 5, 6 years, he had the same amount of playoff wins as Manning, and Brees... Stafford had zero and at this 5, 6 year mark, Dak had better stats than all of them in most categories and some better than Manning....

But yet, you said that Dak probably won't win another playoff game... the other quarterbacks managed to, so I don't understand why there's this belief that Dak couldn't.

Im ALSO glad you mentioned, "once you're in the show, your in the show". For some reason, people like to say Dak can't beat good teams, or threw against backup cornerbacks or etc etc etc.... thats all BS because Dak plays against professionals every Sunday. All of these guys are the best of the best and get paid tons of money to play.

Like you said, once your in the show, your in the show and that don't only apply to quarterbacks.

that's a fantasy most cowboys fans live in. for Brady it wasn't about the money, it was about the rings. his wife makes 4 times what he does. so why would he care about money. his family and legacy is set, so why would he worry about a contract at 44. he wanted rings. he wanted to go somewhere that would give him the best chance for a ring. that wasn't dallas. I think he made the smartest choice by going to tampa. great coach. great culture. an offense that just needed him and a defense that could be dominant. and we know he made the right choice, because they won a superbowl. in Dallas, he would get caught in the GM drama, the daily cowboys players drama, and everyone who has left dallas says the same thing, its not about winning, its about marketing. Brady doesn't need a marketing machine. Brady in Dallas would have been great for Jerry. just think of the number of jersey's he could have sold. but not so great for Brady. can you imagine him working with a first year OC!? really. what could Moore teach him. again, just pure fantasy on most cowboys fans part thinking Brady would consider Dallas.
yeah, if you think what you say is the truth, then provide some facts. otherwise every stat out there say otherwise. like I said the eye test. the fantasy cowboys fans who still think Brady would have come to dallas for money!!!! really!? come on son open your eyes.

and let me ask if Grapolo is available? or was available? again fantasy land. cowboys fans who live in Madden NFL and make trades and fantasize. btw, Grapolo had the #1 defense and #1 running game and one of the most brilliant offensive minds in the game. do you expect him to do the same in dallas?
so you kind of trying to argue your point, but then you give yourself an out. read my other posts, perhaps these guys can produce similarly to Dak in Dallas. ALthough I think Cousins is a loser as he has had just as much, if not more in Minny and he has underwhelemed. he shrinks in big moments.

so on the one hand you declare confidently that they would all get dallas just as far as dak, then you say "if lucky" we get further. doesn't that same luck apply to Dak. do you think the way we looked against SF, as unprepared as we were, that the results would have been any different?

and again, with the herbert, et. al. ...... get me an herbert and then we talk, otherwise its just wishful thinking. this is not an argument that if this team would be better with Herbert, Rodgers, Allen, Mahomes or Brady. the answer is yes. but none of them are here. none of them will ever be here, none of them will hit the market. so why even argue or discuss that. unless you have a goal/agenda to just bad Dak because nothing else to discuss.....

yes, Dak has limitations. why is it that in your third/fourth response you keep bringing that up, eventhough we have agreed on that.... what's the point? are you looking for an argument?

you sound like you have no solution at all. all you want to do is bash Dak to make yourself feel better. so if that makes you feel better then Bash away. enjoy. is it going to change anything? I doubt it.

Ok, we can't win with Dak...great.....now what?

You're overdue for another whine about Dak threads going on and on.
You're welcome.

People don't realize the Cowboys could win just as many games with Cousins, Tannehill, Jimmy G or any of those 3rd teir QBs. But yet all these Dak supporters think those other QBs suck. I would bet that those other QBs might even take the Cowboys further than Dak has or ever will.

Sure when you looking at W/L record for a team the switch at QB may not move the needle depending on what is going on, the question would be is the QB play better or worse? So you need a run game for Jimmy G would you say he would get the run support here he has in SF? Again move on from Dak fine but at least go up when you do dont go sideways or down (Baker Mayfield would be down so would Jimmy) Cousins next contract will be for 40+ anyone that doesnt see that is kidding themselves.

Kirk Cousins signing one-year, $35M extension with Vikings thru 2023. he will actually count more against the cap than Dak will this year.

weellll....Cousins played in another dysfunctional NFL organization. we know how that turned out. but I get your hateful agenda. really I get it. you have to be more extreme than everybody else so you get noticed.

p.s.

weren't you one of the kids who tied his boat to Andy "red head" Dalton? how did that turn out...
