Moore is limited by the players who run the plays he calls.

He can't read the defense faster and throw the ball accurately for Dak. He can't pick up the blitz for Pollard. He can't run the read routes for the receivers.

Play calling is wildly overrated.

You can call the same play for 5 different teams in the same situation, and get 5 different results.

It's always about execution first and foremost.

Bill Parcels said if his PC's after games at times. He was not out there on the field. The players need to execute...or something like that.

I think its a double edged sword. Jalen Hurts was a top QB in fantasy last season lol. But yeah I see what you are saying

Right, but you know that its all from running and that he really struggles as a passer. You also know that getting Aj Brown is just what that passing game needed.

That's when having a fullback helps. You run the RB and the FB out into the flat then you throw it to the RB. With a FB in front blocking for him...it works like a screen play. That's also when you start running shallow crossing routes to one WR while the others set themselves up to block for the WR with the ball. It's hard to do, but it can be done.

It works if you have TE's that can set the edge. Remember not only was our line poor at blocking, but so were our TE's. Woefully so.

If your going to have a dominant run game I love a FB back there.

Honestly. I dont think we need to feature either Dak or Zeke. I would prefer we were balanced, but the run play designs are terrible. Moore is on record saying he doesnt like running outside. Thats where MM should have stepped in and been like. "No. This is what you are doing!"

I feel like MM came to Dallas for one last paycheck because he doesnt seem to bring much to the table. And I am worried that the next HC may be in the staff already. A LA GARRETT

Being balanced isnt a scheme. You want to be able to do both, but you need to have a strength. You need something to play off of. And you have to design your offense and the players in it to fit that strength. A running team is much different then a passing first team. TE's are different and the sets you use more frequently are different. Are you more of a 3 WR set or a 12 personnel?

As far as Moore saying he didnt like to run outside, I never heard that one. Its Zeke that limits us from running outside, not Moore. I have even seen stats showing he tried to run outside more the 2nd half and it simply didnt work.

The one thing that bothered me in the Denver game was the RB would stay in to block. But if his man didn't blitz he would move out of the way to ease congestion. But as soon as he left the back field his man would blitz. And it worked every time. That's why it stood out in my head. Zeke wasn't presenting himself as a Target to Dak. I even mention such in the gameday thread.

@Pass2Run
@CowboyRoy
@JBond

Agreed. It was like they knew that throwing to the RB in the flat wasnt going to happen as a blitz outlet.

Yet no mention of your hero Zeke. LOL

Did HIS injury have any affect? All talk about Dak and nothing about the biggest failure on the offense in the 2nd half with was Zeke and the run game.

Dak came out guns blazing against Tampa so I put very little excuses on his injury for anything. Dak was lights out the first half of the year. Now you want to say he didnt run as much because of the injury, fine we can go there.

The offense went in the tank when Zeke, the run game and the Oline went in the toilet. And your hero was too pig headed to sit on the bench for the good of the team. HAD TO GET HIS laughable 1000 yard season. Which means nothing.

Dude get some help.. The thread is about Moore..

I didnt get the feeling he was bashing Dak in the least. I think there was legitmate questions about dak after the new england game against quality opponents. I think he summarized things ok. I dont care for he and Steves love affair with the RB position but it is a take thats not outlandish. And as much as i dont care for Zeke I wouldnt put him as a main reason why we were one and done. Yes I think he will never be 2016 form and I dont expect him to be but he is not even close to the only reason we failed. I just want to see Pollard more. I dont think he is as pathetic at blocking as some make him out to be.

I really would like to see 2 RB sets. The main problem and cause of our demise was the Oline and a defense that couldnt stop the run and get off the field. Dak also played like Poo in first quarter and a half of the san fran game.

We have alot of things that can be cleaned up. Penalties are huge,Drops are huge, Blocking is huge and yes dak can be more accurate at times

That poster has a history of blaming NOTHING on Zeke and letting him off the hook in every way. So I know exactly what he was doing. But here was my take on the issue. I had Zeke and the run game as #2.

The #1 issue with the offense last year was the Oline went in the toilet. It was certainly a combo of things, but that was the #1 issue. Between poor blocking in the run, pass game and penalties the offense was inconsistent.

Here is my list in order of the biggest issues to the smallest with the offense last year:

1. Oline injuries and shuffling, penalties, poor blocking
2. Run game tanking, Zeke injury, related to poor line blocking
3. Moore' inability to adjust and to sit Zeke or find a prominent role for Pollard
4. Various injuries to the WR's missing game, Cooper 2, Lamb 1.5, Gallup 6 games
5. Dak's calf injury

Yet you managed to mention Dak didnt you?

Does Zeke get any blame whatsoever in your mind for the 2nd half struggles of the offense?

Can you even you even say it? LOL

Zeke was actually hitting the edge well before he got hurt. I have even see you admit that.

Definitely culpable too.....no immunity here.

If he is not, then we have excuse-makers for him towing the line that he is a HC in waiting.

hes a former running back so hes going to have a perspective that leans heavily in favor of an RB. My perspective which isnt always popular is i think with our line from 14-18 we could have had anywhere from 10-15 backs in the league put up the #s Zeke did. where Zeke does seperate himself is hes the best blocking RB in the league (but Ive seen him miss some as well). I want more from an RB than being overpaid FB.

That said i see 0 wrong with his anlaysis in this thread or your for that matter. we can scramble it around however we wish as they all contributed. Im not sure why its so important to us to rank things on this site but its what we do

So is it Dak or Moore that had trouble adjusting? I'm not bashing Dak here, usually I do, but I often wonder what was the problem. How injured was Dak, can Dak read non blitzing defenses or can Moore adjust his offense. I'm really hoping it's Moore that couldn't adjust and not a Dak problem. But I'm scared it's a combination of all 3, Dak's injuries, Dak reading defenses and Moore poorly adjusting to defenses after his offense was figured out. This will be an interesting year.
Yep, it's really hard know where the blame was for the offensive woes of the offense the second half of last season.
Hopefully they will get it figured out !

It's almost as if he has no plays that can beat the blitz. Teams started blitzing us a lot more toward the end of the season. And that delayed blitz killed us a lot. Dak could just audible to a run and run away from the blitz. But every time they blitz he wants to keep the back in instead of a quick toss to the back in the flat.

Zeke and Pollard were hurt and our rushing attack died because of that. So when they weren't blitzing us they'd just fall back in coverage. That two deep shell with the linebackers playing zone gave us some headaches also. And that's when Shultz picked up the slack, because Dak couldn't get it to the wideouts anymore.

So yes there are definitely some problems with Moore. When the run game isn't working he gets conservative as heck. And I'm tired of us settling for field goals from inside the 10. So he needs to run more misdirection plays around the goal line.

20% of the posters on this site could do a better job than that yahoo.
Dakota is the problem on this team. He doesn't have the ability to compete against the decent DCs in the league.

Sean McVay is a HORRIBLE game and clock manager.

Doesn't matter when the players are good enough.
Well I should have explained more.

I think his play calling leaves a lot to be desired. I didn't mean game day management as in clock management. That's McCarthy.

His personnel groupings are not great. He is more Garrett than McVay as he expects the players to execute his plays as opposed to put players ina position to succeed and the defense at disadvantage..he becomes a bit predictable in grouping, formation and route combinations.

He doesn't set up the defense and expose their schemes so he can take advantage of it later in the games.

He is green as a play caller

I think there is much to like about this offense and of his play calling but as I have said before I think he has to improve in his adjustments within a game and as the season moves forward. You just can't be rated the #1 offense in the entire league 2 out of his 1st 3 years without doing something right. Claiming we play in the east still does not take away from the fact this offense was very productive and put up more points than any offense out there. I do think he has to be better about making adjustments

You have to have the players who can take advantage of an exposed scheme.

The fact he went from a boy genius to a bum based on the success and failures of the offense , I’d said he’s probably not the core problem.

Yep, most likely the downturn offensively last year had much more to do with our OL, Zekes and Daks performance after injuries and of course our opponents than any play-calling or schemes by OC.

True. But good OCs are able to expose that. He got owned by several DCs because he was very predictable. Reminded me of Kelly who came to NFL and was supposed to revolutionize offenses. Worked one year. With some game tape DCs figured it out and Kelly struggled and now out of the league
