Yeah you're having revisionist history. Not only was Roy Williams a top 5 pick in the draft but he had some very productive years with some mediocre quarterbacks. Let's don't do that. I get it....you are trying to make Romo look better than he was. But Roy Williams was one of the best receivers in his draft class coming into the league.
Not to mention he was a world class sprinter.

Roy's sharp decline here was on Jerry, not Romo. Romo was always weak on slants on crosses. Soooooo, Jerry goes out and gives up major resources on...........................DRUMROLL.....................a slant/cross WR. Seriously, you can't make this crapp up. When Romo was trying to throw to RW, he was all over the place, often throwing at his feet or 20 feet over his head. It was a mess. Very very stupid on Jerry's part.

Not true. His best game was actually against the Cowboys when they played Detroit on Thanksgiving. Cowboys were up by 20 plus at the half and Romo came out throwing. Carpenter picked him off (I believe for 6) and we ended up losing that game.

Wasn't this the 2011 game?

Yes. Dallas ended up losing. I'm pretty sure Romo threw back to back pick 6s while we had a big lead, giving the Lions momentum. I was always a big Romo fan, but that game was lost solely by him.

The Romo elevated other players and Dak doesnt "this"
Okay. That is a whole mishmash of comments. And i never said Dak cant....just to be clear where i stand.

You see this is part of the problem. People trying to make these connections of comments about the other. We have to keep reminding folks that good comments about one has nothing to do with the other. Feels like bickering nonsense.

Sorry. At this point on this board its like you cant find someone who likes Romo AND Dak. So I just assume. I apologize

Oh I get it. It's no problem...I'm glad we could clear it up.

Plus these threads get all mashed up anyway to boot.

I was at that game. It looked just as bad live as it did on TV. The only good thing is we weren't bombarded with replays of Romo's screw up over and over like it probably was on TV.

Dak elevated Beasley up to Buffalo where he had better production than all but one of his seasons in Dallas.

Ironically, Beasley was Dak's security blanket and a huge part in Dak's 2016 success. That is until D-cords figured it out and took Dak's blanky away from him.

I like both of them and believe they were/are both good enough to win Super Bowls with. That we did not and have not is a team problem, not a quarterback problem.

This is easy to see empirically by looking at previous Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks — Trent Dilfer, Jim McMahon, Jim Plunkett, Nick Foles, Jeff Hostetler, Doug Williams, Mark Rypien, Brad Johnson, even Eli Manning (who stepped up in some playoff games but was fortunate to even reach the playoffs with his poor play during the season and wouldn't have if the defense had not found itself) ...

Definitely not his best game, but we were up 27-3 when he threw his first pick-six. We were still up 30-17 going into the fourth quarter after driving for a field goal following his second pick-six. The defense gave up 17 points in the fourth quarter, hardly Romo "solely" losing that game.

That's the kind of thinking that places too much emphasis on quarterback play. If we're going to blame Romo "solely" for the loss, we should credit him "solely" for the big lead we took before the defense collapsed.

I blame him for changing the entire momentum of the game. Dallas scored on their opening drive of the 2nd half, and the Lions went 3 and out I believe. They were down and out. After those two picks, the entire game changed. Now Dallas had trouble moving the ball and the Lions believed they could win. I could see it as it was happening. All because of those two picks.
