Center is still my biggest concern.
I agree. I don't get why everyone watched our games last year and came away thinking Williams was horrible (he was) but that Biadasz was ok (he was not). He was a big part of why we got no movement up the middle and while "the numbers" say he didn't give up sacks he needs to be stronger in his base against the rush. Upgrade strongly needed there IMO. Maybe he takes a step forward, but I would have addressed center. Biadasz and Farniok doesn't make me confident

Smith only has an upside in replacing Williams.
Steele has a lot of game experience filling in for Collins, now knowing he is the starter, he has put in the work to be better.
Badiasz is the wild card here. Has he improved, as one thread stated, he looks bigger and in better shape so hopefully stronger. Will better LG play help his game, maybe. We will see how TC and any competition goes.

Penalties MUST be reduced.

On both sides of the ball as well. But Gregory being gone, that helps the defensive side. Now can Smith reduce the penalties of what Williams had. Can his college mistakes be coached for him to reduce those in the NFL.
Can't wait for his 1st penalty (actually I can wait) to see the meltdown in a game day thread. :lmao:

Smith has potential to be a good starter but I don't see that happening in his first season. He had trouble with holding penalties in college, I doubt he changes that in his first season in the NFL going against better players. If T. Smith gets injured, then our left side of the line becomes a huge weak spot, especially because the inexperience.
Our Center position needs to be upgraded in next year's draft, the players we have there are weak. Steele just needs to prove last season wasn't a fluke.

smith only has upside on Williams is absolutely false. There is absolutely a chance he is worse. This is a terrible take. Can he be better. Of course. He can also be worse.

Not a terrible take at all. He is bigger and stronger and more athletic. So he should be no worse from reports. That is logical. Only fans that want to look at the negatives all the time think otherwise.

Williams was in this 4th season. Biadasz pretty much had an injury filled rookie redshirt season and this was his first year healthy and starting a full year. Different scenario.

Cant compare a first year starter to a Williams who has been bad for 4 years. If you recall Williams rookie year it was about as bad as it could gets.

Biadasz is the guy we should actually see the most improvement. Youngest guy out there with a first healthy offseason going into his 2nd year starting.

I would be surprised if the rookie Smith is not a huge improvement over Williams.

Wow shocking revelations that we have serious questions on our O-line.
We all know that these are the problem areas and so do the coaches and the FO peeps.
Hence the drafting and signing of 4 players to come in and push for those jobs.

T Smith and Waletzko get all the buzz on here (and else where) mainly because of the situation with the other T Smith. Can one of them be our future starting LT? Either one or both, could end up being starters at either OT spot in the future. But for now Smith will obviously start at LG and that should be a huge upgrade over the Conners, and sooner rather than later. That should help Dak and co. immediately.
Waletzko is here to push Ball for the swing OT spot, both will want the job and that should make them put in the work to improve in order to get it. May the best man win.

But IMHO, the 2 guys who don't get much attention are probably just as important if not more so. Empey and Lindstrom are here to force Biadasz to be better or get out of the way. We must get stronger inside if we want to have any chance of success.

Cant get much worse than Williams. A first round pick like Smith with attitude and strength you can just tell.

Sure there is a small chance, but the betting money is that its a huge improvement at that position.

What ever happened to the great Farniok? He was supposed to win the job over Biadasz.

Now a couple of undrafted FA's are going to outplay Biadasz? Grasping at straws again.

How about giving a young player more than one year starting to get his feet under him in the NFL? Biadasz was nowhere as bad as some made him out to be last year. It was his first year healthy and starting a full year after college. First offseason healthy where he could train and improve instead of rehab.

This is a big year for Biadasz.

They have an aging and fragile LT, a rookie at LG, a C that does not consistently put the ball in the same place on shotgun snaps and a RT that hasn't played a full season. No concern here.

Mr. Crucial on the offense has to be Zack Martin. Even more so than the QB and WR. He is the anchor of the ? on the team. WR's come in right after that.

The OL is critical to play calling and can really shrink a playbook quickly.

I didn't forget Farniok, I was just focusing about the 4 guys brought in. Ball was also brought here to be part of this O-line competition. 2 guys last year and 4 guys this year proves they are trying to improve.

And you're right this is a big year for Biadasz. Most players do need more than 1 year to reach their potential. I honestly hope he does make the jump and solidifies himself as the starter. I praised the pick when they made it and really like the kid. But for the most part we didn't see much of these struggles with Fred beard starting as a rookie did we? And we definitely still weren't talking about them going into year #3. He needs to nut up or get pushed out. This team can't be weak inside and win.

The Dallas o-line had the most penalties in the league. Also, it seemed as if the center had trouble getting the ball in Dak's hands. Those are the facts.
