This thread is all about coming to terms with reality (no pun intended to the CZ senior moderator)

Since AT&T stadium is the home base, and it's located in Arlington Texas, then it goes that the proper name of the team commonly referred to as the Dallas Cowboys is really the Arlington Cowboys. You might call it blasphemy, I call it logic based on geography.

Besides, shouldn't the Arlington Cowboys EARN the right to be called the Dallas Cowboys? Just as Bill Parcells made rookies earn the star on their helmet, why not make this current franchise earn the right to be associated to the legacy of "America's Team"?

Arlington is part of the Dallas metroplex right? So technically does that check the box for you?

If that’s the case they should have been called the Irving Cowboys.

Numerous teams play outside the city, but would consider all extensions of their namesake city so I don't see a problem with it. Technically the Cowboys haven't played at a Dallas address in over 50 years.

Giants, Jets, 49ers, Commanders, Chargers, Rams, Bills, Raiders, Dolphins all play outside the city.

The Panthers and Patriots took the easy way out...

There is precedent for things like this. Washington's football team plays in Maryland. Los Angeles Angels play in Anaheim (that's not even in Los Angeles county). Both New York football teams haven't played in New York -- outside of visits to Buffalo -- in forever

Check out the other city specific teams and where they play/what their team name is.

It’s a shame that a deal couldn’t be reached to build AT&T stadium in the City of Dallas where this team belongs.
