Well unfortunately, I'm a battered fan of 30 years, so it's not easy to move on and clean the slate lol

I have been a fan since 1965, yet I always treat every season as a new one. What happened before has no bearing on what may or may not happen the current season. Even after winning a SB, once the next season starts you are 0-0 and have to go out and earn it.

I'm really looking forward to the defense and Quinn taking over if necessary.
I'm hoping to see Dak outside the pocket and having some success.
But I do have a lot of questions

Hope it all works out for you, brother. Life can suck sometimes, but it's still a blessing. Keep your head up

Wish I could edit that post to make it not seem depressed or anything bad. Have a bad habit of leaving out a sentence or two for better context.

Just after having kids, what excites me has changed. I still enjoy watching and talking football but priorities such as doing activities with my kids is what excites me/look forward to. If Football had another lockout I would just shrug and move on. 10 years ago I would of been pissed.

On a scale from 1-7 I'm sitting on a 4. I always get overly optimistic when training camp starts so I'll have to update after the last preseason game.

I’m an NFL fan so I’m excited about every season. I love watching football on Sundays. As for the Cowboys this is the least excited I’ve been about them in a long time. I’m just hoping they give themselves a chance to make the playoffs.

I'm having a hard time getting up for the season. I just don't think we're as good as we were last year and I'm concerned about the OL and WRs. On top of that l just don't have the confidence in Dak l once had. Since his return from injury, he seems to play scared. I just don't think he's "the guy."

Reasons to be pumped for the season:
  • A lot of exciting youth, especially on defense.
  • No one thought we were going anywhere last year, maybe can build on that. Most of our core is returning.
  • Our rookie offensive lineman starting to impress.
  • Zeke is healthy.
  • Big Mac let go of what judged to be the problems, his guys now.
  • Eagles look like the only team that can put up a challenge in NFC East.
  • ...ya got me. Struggling to find more reasons.
Reasons to be down on the season:
  • One could say our head coach is already a lame duck.
  • Dak seems to have peaked out.
  • Zeke seems to be losing a step.
  • Both lines have some question marks.
  • Last time we had unproven depth at WR, offense came out flat.
  • Last year's collapse. Hope they have more heart than that.
  • The Jones Boys still make the decisions.
  • Not much of an exciting offseason for personnel moves.
  • We lucked out on injuries and turnovers last year, doubt we strike gold twice.

1992 - 2000, I followed training camp and preseason religiously.

2000 - 2010, I paid attention to TC reports and watched every preseason game.

2011 -2015, I stopped following TC much but still watched most preseason games.

2016 - present, I’ve stopped following TC and preseason altogether.

So I’d say I’m at an all time low for excitement.

Sitting here today I’m somewhere between meh and eh. I’ll watch and I’ll cheer but nothing matters until we get to January. Hopefully they’re good enough to get there

My excitement for Cowboys football would be a 10 but the owner makes it a 5. And I’m being generous with that 5. lol As the years go on and our 80 year old GM is still calling the shots the excitement dwindles.

Hey guys,

I made a similar thread after the playoff loss last year and things felt more bleak than hopeful, but a new season is around the corner, so I wanted to check in and see how everyone is feeling about it.

Given what we currently know about the roster and overall team/organization dynamic, what are you expecting/hoping for out of the season?

Yes, I know I'm mostly known as a hater around here, so I'm sure nobody will be shocked to hear that I'm not overly optimistic about 2022. It seems the roster got worse and then Stephen & Jerry are spinning it, per usual, by trying to voice their "confidence" in all the young guys.

Overall though, I'm still feeling the hangover from the 49er loss.

I'm struggling to find much excitement and that's a very foreign feeling for me concerning the Cowboys, especially in August.

Anyways, I'm rambling. How do y'all feel???

I am feeling cynical about this franchise in general— and pretty resigned to mediocrity for the 2022 season.

We have had a rough offseason where we lost a lot of talent and did not add any real value in FA to replace what walked out the door.

I do like some of our draft picks— but how much can we count on rookies to consistently produce? Parsons is the exception not the rule.

Throw in an undermined, lame duck HC and an arrogant, self assured, yet incompetent FO… and I see (drumroll plz) another 9-8, 8-9, or maybe 10-7 campaign.

I think we will compete for the NFCE title, but are a few notches below the LAR and TB who are the cream of the NFC this year.

I expect the same as last year ....... Dominate the division looking like world beaters.

Then one and done in the playoffs.

Jerry Jones and his clan are a disease that lingers.

11-6
Im there too,but I thinkthe division will be more competitive
Dont see them getting gifted 6 division wins

Hope dies in the end like they say. And for sure i stayed too long with the hope that they wouldnt sign Prescott long term.

Well call me naiv. I sure do feel like i am. I knew way earlier that they would still i refused to believe. But since then i have no expectations regarding our seasons anymore.

But even without that my expectations for the upcoming season would have been rather low.

Our first round pick was a shocker ? Well in the end it wasnt.
Our FO should have learned one lesson from the last 10 years: It lacks talent to make risky picks in the draft. From LVE to Jalon Smith, Randy Gregory heck to even Sean Lee. This FO seems to refuse their lesson. And now again a project, a very raw guy. Where the top notch All Pro Center is waiting for you on a silver platter.

But in the end, as i said, it wasnt a surprise. This FO refuses to learn. Heck why go with a safe pick at a position of high need ? Better go with the risky one because we all know you arent able to judge risk.

Well so the OL is more of a microcosm of JJs brain than a planned project. Same goes with WR where another brainfart is on the horizon - that means another high cost last minute trade because JJs QB shows him what he is actually capeable of if not surrounded by elite talent on every position.

But enough of the positive stuff.

Here come the negative ... What do i expect for 2022 ?

7-10.

On one hand, football is coming. On the other hand, Summer is ending.

If I had more confidence in the team, the latter would bother me less.

That's not to say I'm not hopeful, just less enthusiastic.

I am hyped for the NEW SEASON. We are 0-0. Just like everyone else. I welcome the new addition and new optimism’s. I also have areas of concern of WR and K. But we have depth virtually everywhere else. I hope we shore those two areas with peeps stepping up or signing a vet or two before season starts… It’s that time we make this run for 6 Championships!!!!! LFG!!! So excited as always. As long as there is hope I am screaming it!!!:starspin::starspin::starspin::starspin::starspin::starspin:

Great post. I agree on all fronts.

Basically, we're looking at just a downgraded rinse and repeat performance from last year. I think that is our ceiling, unfortunately.

I am excited big time. They have a good team and have added a lot of good young talent. They look to be on the verge of something good.
