I wrote this in another thread, but it applies here:

____________

I watched the joint practice today [on NFL Network] and the play on either side wasn’t really physical because it couldn’t be. They couldn’t tackle and much of the physicality was taken away because of how they did it.

The reason that is being said is because between plays, Denver was more chippy and was pushing and shoving a lot more. That isn’t physical play. That is just pushing after the play is over.

The NFL Network guys said that the rule for today was anyone throwing a punch gets kicked out of practice. McCarthy is working on Pre-snap and post-snap penalties, so the team was focusing on trying not to do that stuff. Mike wants physical play. Difficult to work on that when you can’t be physical.

There have been some things floating around this site that becomes fact after so many repeat it… but this is one of the crazier things. Neither team was physical. Denver was just a little dirtier.

I want a physical team too and that is a point they’re working on. The thing is, that is something that will have to be judged during the games more so than in a practice where you can’t tackle.

I’m sure that article is making Denver fans happy though.

Who cares who wins in a "preseason" game?
Often the loser is the better team because it works on execution, assesses new players and keeps veterans on the bench.
Winning an exhibition ... I mean preseason game is like kissing your barber.

First time Dallas had practiced at altitude. Denver practices in altitude every day. Could be they were just gassed. Don’t be so negative so easily.

As a football nut and purist of food and drink, I must say tha is a novel idea, that lowlands Cowboys would be affected by the altitude.
Sharp as a tack you are, lad, and handsome like Victor Mature.

Man, I remember thinking after that loss "hey, doesn't matter, it's a wake up call at the right time, can't win em all".

:lmao2:

Who knew.... when they took names they sent that list to everyone in the league.

While I agree with the idea that the Cowboys have a long way to go in term of becoming a more physical team in order to match up with teams like the Broncos, 49ers, etc. I'm not about to lose sight that the team was nowhere near ready. Expecting a 300 lb man to instantly acclimate to high altitude 97 degree weather after spending weeks in 60-70 degree weather in California is just silly. And I would argue the climate adjustment was a much bigger factor than a so called difference in talent.

At the same time, I actually have a bigger problem with the preparation factor of McCarthy. I don't think he wants these practices against other teams during the preseason. It's as if he expected the Broncos to take it easy with the intensity, when every Cowboys fan knows that every team we face is going to play it like its the Super Bowl. Every team in the league uses beating the Cowboys as a motivator no matter how good or bad the Cowboys are. The Cowboys simply don't have the luxury to sneak up on other teams. McCarthy should know better by now.

If you watch the Denver “live” that concentrated on their offense vs our defense, they highlighted the two plays, TE beating VE and Sutton beating Kelvin Joseph. The other times, we stuffed the run and our Defense was in the backfield. You can visibly see Russell Wilson having a hard time. Two sides to a story just our side (our live) showed the most.

Nice to read the same Rah-rah preseason replies I've read for the last 26 years:facepalm::facepalm:You guys let me know when those ever have worked.......:( We have no dogs....just a bunch of puppies. And until we get a few pit bulls in here. This team is going no where.

Nice to read the same rah-rah posts for the upcoming season and how we don't have this or that or should've done this or
Obviously you haven't been on YouTube or twitter. Most Dallas fans are livid I'd say.

Our fans are pompous whiners that cry cus we don't win SB every year, instead of cheering for a competitive team which is the reasonable and rationale goal or expectation. You guys have seen enough of this team to know not to drink the Kool-Aid yet you still do and then complain it's like you haven't learned yet and I don't have sympathy for people like that. I learned awhile ago to expect the the worst team when they're considered good and can be one of the best if they're slept on. GN, I'm going mimis

All off season we heard ole Mike tell us how physical we need to be. I didn't see any physical out there today. Denver was the school bully taking our lunch money. 3 times I counted were they went way over the line and we just set back and took it. Same as last season. Doughnut Mike for 3 days told his team not to fight. Well they sure listened because I didn't see no fight from anybody not named Steele. Our team especially the Oline are a group of choirboys. No way Denver does that to Larry Allen -Big E or even Gogan. These guys are more like Walmart greeters. What we need are tough Eastside-Westside bouncers. I blame this mostly on Doughnut Mike. Your team usually takes the same temp as your head coach. I wish Jerry would just give the job to Quinn tonight. And I'm a Dak fan but he's another Walmart greeter. A company man. I liked him going after the Denver DE but what he needs to do is go after those sorrybutts in front of him who didn't even come to his defense. Troy and Roger never took crap from their offensive line. I wish Dak would just let these guys have it a few times.
Now you'll hear some say "well it's just the first practice. Yea. so what????? You got the same results. Denver totally punking us and we give them a smile and a coke. Like I said even on the Tom Landry teams you had your enforcers. Cliff Harris- Thomas Henderson- Randy White. And don't even get me started how many we had on those Jimmy teams. Allen- Big E- Gogan-Washington-Norton-Haley and on and on. I can't tell you one guy I'd go into battle with on this team minus Kearse. Micha has all the talent but I wouldn't call him an enforcer. Dallas needs a few guys on the Oline and Dline that will just kick some butts when needed. This team is going to get bullied again come playoff time. They are all glitzed with no kick. A Lion without teeth or claw. And it pains me to say this but darn it!!!! It needs to be said!! Stop being Walmart greeters and be Eastside-Westside bouncers!!!!

Just practice.....I have 100% confidence that our Leaders Dak + Zeke who represent 30 % of our Cap (Give or take) will lead us to the promised land!!!!

P.S.To their bank accounts hopefully!!!!:muttley:

I can't justify going into a rendition of how overall team performance suckage post 90's has already seeped into 2022 based on the first pre-season game on the road. We were 0-4 in preseason last year and we were division winners with a regular season 12-5 record and made it into the post-season. Of course we should have advanced further in the playoffs and no one is content over our erratic level of play spanning almost 3 decades but some in here are besotted on "Shartonnay whine".

I didn't watch it, but that seems like a perfectly plausible reason.

I think people go into group think mode way to much these days. You hear something and you just go with it. The Broncos were not any more physical than the Cowboys yesterday. They were more trash talking , they were more pushing and shoving, they were more about starting fights, they did more cheap shots but those things are physical those are stupid things. The bottom line is both D seemed to be ahead of both the O at this point. Our D held their own and their D held their own. But both Offenses had their moments as well. I am not sure what people saw. Maybe it was different in person. But from the video looked like both teams were about the same with one being more mouthy.
