Listening to a podcast, one of the dudes said that if we had taken Slater over Parsons last year, we wouldn't be in the predicament that we are in now because Slater would slide right into Tyron's spot. This is true but I would still rather have Parsons because he is a generational talent. His point was that Slater can be your left tackle for the next 10-15 years while Parsons probably won't last anywhere near that long.
So, would you rather have Micah or Rashawn on this football team now?

Podcasts have to produce content, but this is kind of silly.

Slater would have been a great pick, but as of right now Parsons seems to be a higher impact player. We're talking about an investment for a career, not a year. You take the higher impact player.

But 3 years from now, we might look back and say, "man what a fluke rookie season from Parsons... wish we had Slater".

Hindsight is like x-ray vision.

Parsons completely changed the caliber of the defenses. I think he was and is the better choice. Slater is an excellent LT and will be for years. Last year he would have been a good LG for Dallas while Tyron continued to play LT.

Let’s see how Parsons does this year. If Tyler can play LT like they said he can then we need a LG that’s better than Williams was last year. Tyler would have been a instant upgrade if Tyron wasn’t hurt. This is why I don’t like philibin. He knew he could play LT so wanted to give him all snaps at LG. Should have had him playing some at LT because we all know Tyron would miss some time or need rest towards the end of season. We need a new O-Line coach. MM keeping his buddy around is hurting the O-Line. Some of the penalties are on the coaching.

That's the battle every year. Do you build up your defense or your offense? For years, we spent those premium picks on offense and it didn't really get us anywhere.

Now, a good front office supplements its draft with quality FAs so that it isn't an either-or question.

Curious if this becomes the next Watt vs Smith debate on here.

10 years ago the questions was Tyron Smith or JJ Watt, who would you have gone with?

Doesn't matter. They both have the same number of super bowl wins.

Micah is a future HOFer just entering his 2nd year. Can't replace players like that.

Rashawn is good but can be replaced in 8-9 years if needed.

That shows that some fans still don’t fully understand what we have with Parsons.

The guy is going to change games.

You and I discussed this in great detail during last year's offseason. Specifically comparing impact of the positional importance to team wins with regards to a strong LT and comparing what a generational pass rushing LB does.
It was a cool discussion and thankfully as we both would now agree, Quinn knew how to use Parsons skills properly.

To diminish the importance of a strong LT's performance on a team's ability to win games is not some huge slam dunk of choosing an edge rusher over a LT in the draft.
It's just the fact that the next Lawrence Taylor was the edge rusher in this scenario.
