Micah or Rashawn Now?

Listening to a podcast, one of the dudes said that if we had taken Slater over Parsons last year, we wouldn't be in the predicament that we are in now because Slater would slide right into Tyron's spot. This is true but I would still rather have Parsons because he is a generational talent. His point was that Slater can be your left tackle for the next 10-15 years while Parsons probably won't last anywhere near that long.
So, would you rather have Micah or Rashawn on this football team now?

So, if you wanted to dumb it down and ask which position "normally"has more impact on team wins then it's gonna be close in some GMs eyes but I believe the majority will pick the left tackle to protect the QB who is number one priority in roster building and they want to see that investment protected.
It may be a closer vote amongst GMs IF the edge rusher is exceptional.

THAT is the case here.

Micah is the exception in this case because he possesses the ability to individually take over games by his performance.

The truest example of generational talent.

You and I discussed this in great detail during last year's offseason. Specifically comparing impact of the positional importance to team wins with regards to a strong LT and comparing what a generational pass rushing LB does.
It was a cool discussion and thankfully as we both would now agree, Quinn knew how to use Parsons skills properly.

To diminish the importance of a strong LT's performance on a team's ability to win games is not some huge slam dunk of choosing an edge rusher over a LT in the draft.
It's just the fact that the next Lawrence Taylor was the edge rusher in this scenario.

Yeah, the fact that Quinn is using Parsons exactly like I hoped he would has been a great development. I certainly didn’t know that they would.

The impact that Parsons has on the defense is almost immeasurable. He can impact the entire defense… and so he impacts the outcome of the game.

A more typical, but still very good edge rusher vs a left tackle would be a better question.

Micah has incredible value to this team.

Hindsight is like x-ray vision.

Parsons completely changed the caliber of the defenses. I think he was and is the better choice. Slater is an excellent LT and will be for years. Last year he would have been a good LG for Dallas while Tyron continued to play LT.

This is a very good point. Our defense might win us games now, against teams that the offense wouldn't have been able to outscore regardless of who stepped in for Tyron.

This D really needed help and the Parsons pick was perfect. Unfortunately, they dropped the ball the rest of the draft and in FA thinking Smith could last a whole season. I love the player but nothing over the last few years indicated he could play a whole season

Micah all day everyday and twice on Sunday!!!!! There is no question what so ever.

Slater plays for the San Diego Chargers. Parsons IS the Dallas Cowboys.

Can you imagine Parsons with that Chargers defense. They would trade us Slater straight up for Parsons now.

Not a chance. Micah is special. And we haven’t had Defense in so long.
