Sometimes I just have to ask myself because none of this really makes sense.

Was he heartbroken after the ice bowl did he watch Roger Staubach bring us back against the John Brody LED 49ers.
Did he see Bob Lilly sack Bob Griese for a 24-yard loss in our first super bowl win

Was he crushed by Jackie Smith's drop in the end zone did he jump for joy after the hail Mary
Is he sick of watching continual replays of the catch.
What real cowboy fan could do Tom Landry like that
Or is he just a self-absorbed ego maniac only caring about his accomplishments and having no real commitment of fanhood to our team.

At this point it is really difficult for me to believe with all his resources and all his money that he is unable to build a team capable of getting to an NFC championship game.

We are a diverse group on this site but we are Cowboys fans and I truly believe if any of us had Jerry's money and resources we could do better why because we are really fans of this team.

The only thing Jerry is a fan of is money and Jerry

This is Jerry's shiny toy, he dosent have to like it and it just boosts his ego. This man cares about nothing but personal image, hence the reason Jimmy isn't in the ring of honor.

I totally agree any true Cowboys fan is a fan of their history from the beginning .

Hard to believe Jerry was a fan from the beginning or close to it and he's very much old enough to be. What fan that started following the Cowboys from the beginning could have done Tom Landry like that.

Jerry has proven time again that he is a fan of his accomplishments.
He can't even be happy for Jimmy's accomplishments

Interesting. Is Jerry a life long, die hard Cowboys fan? A die hard fan would have been hard pressed to fire Landry even if it did turn out to be the correct decision.

Jerry loves the Cowboys now. It is his entire identity.

Yes I can't imagine any fan on this forum who watched Tom Landry coach through his career not be horribly conflicted about firing Tom Landry.
I used to think he loved the Cowboys but the more I think about it he only loves them as much as he can accomplish with them.

He doesn't love them when somebody else accomplishes the ultimate goal with them.
It's a hollow victory for him then it's all about what he accomplishes with them

He wasn't always like this. You've seen all the moves he's made in the past. Some were really bad, but some good too. The point is he was actively trying to win. That is until the last 10 years. I don't know why he made the change. But I don't believe being a fan had anything to do with it.

Jerry is a fan of Jerry. Nothing is as important as Jerry is to himself. Everything else in the world is a tool Herry uses to worship himself.

I would be willing to bet a pretty good chunk of cash that Jerry couldn't tell you a single thing about the Dallas Cowboys prior to 1989. He may have heard of Tom Landry, Tex Schram, and Bum Bright, but that's it. He probably had no idea Texas Stadium was in Irving and not Dallas.

Jerry's focus is entirely on making money and staying relevant. Nothing more.

Ref the bolded part - I guarantee I would hire football people to do the job. I would occasionally go to the sidelines during games because I like the thrill of being in the thick of things, but I would be lost in the crowd (not interfering) just enjoying the moment. I would only be known as the guy signing the checks and nothing more. In the event of a championship? You wouldn't see me on the stage - that belongs to the men who actually earned it. I wasn't on the field and didn't do a damn thing.

Great post brother I'm feeling exactly the same way cuz no real cowboy fan with his money and influence would take such a haphazard approach to building a team that they wanted to really win a championship.

Gets very frustrating as a fan to continually lowering your expectations because of Jerry's allegiance to himself his relevance profit and not the team.

The guy just refuses to sacrifice his personal glory for the team to achieve the ultimate goal

My expectations disappeared way back when it came out that Jerry only hired Bill Parcells to get the death star built. That's when it became crystal clear that he really wasn't interested in winning.

Alcohol - the ultimate truth serum.

He's absolutely a fan... but a bigger fan of making more money.
