I can't rightly recall exactly when I became a fan, just born into it really. My first Cowboys hero was Walt Garrison, he was a Cowboy and a cowboy, he was tough and he was funny, still remember those old Skoal commercials. For Christmas when I was in 1st grade I got a football and a Walt Garrison tshirt/jersey, one of my greatest gifts ever. I wore the heck out of that sucker, eventually full of holes and tears until it practically disintegrated off me.

Earliest Cowboys memories period - Thanksgiving dinner with old man and grandpa watching the Cowboys. All through the 80’s. Both fans since the 60’s. Don Perkins was their favorite player… until Staubach.

Earliest Cowboys News report I remember - Signing of Nate Newton from USFL :D

Favorite 80’s Player - 33 and 34 baby!

I think it’s cool how we still have fans on this board that saw Don Meredith, Don Perkins, and the 60’s legends play. I laugh at these threads wanting to publicly drop their loyalty because of a few bad seasons. We have fans who have been showing up for 50+ years.
IM at 44 years dating back to TD's rookie season. My very first game was week 15 in Philly at the old vet in JImmy's first year leading us to the playoffs. I was at the DEz Bryant catch game, I was at the 1993 NFC title game against the NIners. I now have 4 daughters and they are all Cowboys fans. It is in the blood and its not something you can just stop...... well, not if you are a big time fan. Its like hating cream corn. If you hat ethat crap, you hate it. You cant just one day eat some and say, mmmmmmmmmmm, delicious.

There is little that happens during the year that brings me more joy or more heartache than the games. I have a great family.... so Im not talking about them. But there is nothing like the anticipation of making the trip to the games. My wife got me an autographed Roger Staubach jersey in a large fram for Christmas. It brought tears to my eyes because it just took me back to being that 8 year old little kid that worshiped my only true sports hero as a youngster.

We leave for Dallas in 2 days, and the whole family plus 2 boyfriends are all super excited to make the trip.

Of course! No Super Bowls, nothing to brag about! Plus, it’s the Cowboys. Kids get more smiles and thumbs up and high fives and pseudo brotherhood hating on Dallas. It’s trendy! Loyalty and patience are much more fleeting nowdays, while instant gratification and entitlement is as natural as air. People born after 1995 don’t care about what came before.
4 playoff wins in 25 years.

Bob Hayes was my favorite player. When I see the number 22 I think of Bob Hayes.

Yeah I was 5 years old, well 4 at the time of the draft, and I was always pretending to be Bullet when playing sandlot ball. As luck would have it, I turned out to actually be fast too.. though nowhere near as fast as he was. But I remain a runner to this day largely thanks to Bob. Ran track all through school and in college .. Kept running in invitational and all comer meets up until my 40's. Still go to the track 3 times a week and run intervals... because I never really learned how to "jog."
