Agree 100%........his future as a Cowboy HC could rest on the next 3-4 games. It is not all about losing but HOW we lose.

Mike McCarthy Needs to Find Answers Fast
Dak Prescott’s injury calls for an injection of creativity from McCarthy and his coaching staff—for the sake of the Cowboys and of the coach.
Even before Jerry Jones told reporters that Dak Prescott will miss multiple weeks with a fractured joint in his thumb, the Cowboys were approaching the nascent stages of potential, gawk-worthy spectacle. The classic Cowboys stuff that we haven’t seen in years. The kind of thick, multilayered chaos that Jones used to live for.

No one likes to balloon a one-game sample size, but the Mike McCarthy era has already shed most of its convenient excuses. The Prescott injury in 2020, when he missed 11 games, bought time. The defensive coordinator change that following year, moving from Mike Nolan to Dan Quinn, bought time. It was all somewhat dismissable and couchable as the kind of growing pains a team must endure.

Good luck with finding answers MM. This guy was set up to fail just coming here to Dallas. Then he loses Dak two out of 3 years? He is done!!

Unless MM stands for Merlin the Magician, what answers is Mike McCarthy supposed to find? His roster is his roster. He didn't even have a say on his OC.

He was always just going to be Jerry's next scapegoat. That's the gig in Dallas.

Guess what happens if we somehow go 0-4 or 5? But again, the problem with MM, is players show little or no fight or resilience.

If we dont beat the Giants in two weeks we will be 0-4. NO way do we beat Cincy or Eagles. We will see if these guys play for MM or not. This is going to get really really bad.

Remember this?????? We all KNEW Weeden wasn't the answer but took Jerry three games to see it. In other words, don't look for them to sign a legit backup or upgrade over Rush until he losses a few games.

Weeden began the season again as Romo's backup. During a Week 2 game against the Eagles, Romo fractured his clavicle and Weeden closed out the win. It was announced that Romo would be placed on short term IR, which left him designated to return November 22, and that Weeden would be the starter at quarterback. Even though he was preparing to be the starter, with owner Jerry Jones and head coach Jason Garrett commenting on his positive progress the Cowboys covered themselves by trading for Matt Cassel on September 22. Weeden started three games, completing 71 percent of his attempts for 666 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions, but lost all three games. On October 13, the Cowboys decided to bench him and instead play Cassel, who started four games (all losses). On November 17, Weeden was waived to make room for Romo, with the team deciding to keep Cassel as the main backup.[1

They had Weeden for like 2 or 3 years and thought they were geniuses. LOL

How do you not see that clown in practice for years and not see how bad the guy is? I have no idea how Jerry survives. He is so bad at being a GM. If we had a decent backup QB, maybe we win a few games and stay around 500 till dak comes back? There is zero hope with Rush. And this is a guy they knew sucked. They cut him and knew that no one would pick him up. If your evaluation is that no one will pick him up, then how can you possibly be confident this guy can be your QB in a pinch? Its insanity.

Yep, we've cut him twice and brought him back.....twice :lmao2:
But he's good enough to start a few games?

In their defense though, what's/who out there that hit the ground running in 2 weeks?

Personally I am a fan of it as if Dak goes down, we have no hope so might as well Tank. But if they are serous GM's trying to win it all, it couldnt be more stupid.

MM was an out of work coach for a reason.

Only Stephen thought he was any good.

That BTB thinks this is McCarthy's fault reminds me why I rarely take anything BTB says seriously.

He's the kind of coach the Jones boys like - one desperate for another chance (Wade and MM) or one whose dream it is to coach the Cowboys (Campo and JG). Coaches like that will take the job on whatever terms the Jones boys set, and eventually end up being the scapegoat for the Jones boys poor decisions, including hiring them to be head coach in the first place.

But don't worry, the next head coach they hire will fix everything.

What's scary is looks like we pick up right where we left off in the 49ers' playoff game but worse. The only improvements were fewer penalties......
Yep. That was my biggest takeaway. The low intensity, penalties, no execution, and general disinterest in the game reminded me of the playoff loss. That's frustrating and discouraging. Dak wasn't doing anything before the injury besides missing people. Dropped passes. Overall just a lackluster performance. We've been saying that a lot the last couple years.

This is culture.

And that starts and ends with ownership.

But McCarthy as HC shares blame too.

Remember when McCarthy swore he'd fix penalties issue before this season?

Finding answers and fixing problems is not really his thing.

He just likes to make you think it is.
