In fairness to Jerry, Brady has been given a hometown discount for years even when he was in NE. I don’t think the 7 time SB champion has ever been paid the highest at his position.

Why does every prognosticator compare Dak to Brady.

no one is Brady.

It's unfair to compare anybody else to Brady.

A
You asked a question so I'll answer it from my perspective. Brady is the greatest individual player AND team player ever. Many young, really unproven QB's are getting insane salaries while Brady takes a third of their salaries... and wins. He understands it takes a team to win the SB. Green Bay may never recover from AR's salary while Tampa is blowing and going.

Brady settling for a measly $30,000,000 a year is commendable. Maybe he thinks that's enough to leave his grandkids a decent inheritance.

Brady's not the only player married to an actress, singer, model, etc. Sure, she's probably still the highest paid, but they all make a boatload.

The Jones’ inability to manage the football team properly finally bit us bad. Dak fooled them with his early play and won them over with his aw shucks attitude.
Not just Dak, but also DLaw and Elliott. Dak, DLaw and Elliott took Jerry to the cleaners with their contracts. All three are paid big money to be above average. I agree 100% that Jerry can't manage a football team properly and he also let's his feelings get in the way when negotiations take place.

Water under the bridge. The contract was a bad mistake, as was the contract he did for Zeke and DLaw before that. Jerry can't help himself. He has no idea what he is doing.

The question is what to do now. Dak's deal is good until 2024 then he has two voided years, which means he will want a new deal. If he wanted $40 million before, then what will he ask for next? He wasn't worth $40 million and he is not going to be worth more than $40 million in 2024. Not having a QB is scary but if they do things right, they could resurrect the team like they did in the 1990s.

Dallas’ $40-million-a-year quarterback is worth half as much as Brady but is paid twice as much as the seven-time Super Bowl champion. At age 45 and entering his 23rd season, Brady charged the Bucs $15 million this season for his services.

Good read. Dak was never worth this contract. Jerry was bidding against no-one and way overpaid for a QB that is at best average and coming off a big injury.

Comparing what Brady makes and what Dak makes is a bit misguided. The numbers are not a reflection of their values, it's just a reflection of the fact that Tom Brady wants to win at all costs and he's already made his money. He is worth 1/4th of a billion dollars and isn't even the wealthiest person in his own household.

Lastly, anyone who is going to blame Dak for not getting every dollar he can is just lost at space without a tether. Every player looking at their 1st big contract is going to (and should) get all they can. It's up to ownership not to screw it up.

I doubt his wife's income drives his decision. That dude wants to win no matter what.

Dak and his agent were greedy... and the GM/Owner is dumb. That is what
it really boils down to.

Not like Dak was poverty stricken... These players now care way more about the money,
than a Super Bowl. You don't have to take every dime you can possibly get. Team player, leader,
my ***.

The mentality of... well the owners make such and such... is crap. Because the cap is the cap no matter
what. Doesn't matter if Jerry makes $50 billion, it doesn't change the cap.

Dak made $75mil last year... I bet if he had the chance to make $70mil and give up $5mil to get a ring,
he would have kept the $5mil over the ring.

Oh well... at least we don't have to look at him out there for awhile. He can go play Xbox with his
broken thumb. Probably can't read defenses in a video game either.

Would you take a pay cut so your employer could hire a slightly better coworker and improve the company? No. You should not be expected to do that. It is on management to do what they need to in order to assemble the talent they need to succeed. If they are incompetent and unable to negotiate contracts properly it is not the workers' fault.
