the shotgun is for passing teams, if you want a run team or even balanced team then you need more under center plays.
But kellen and other coaches think shotgun is the best all purpose way to go.

Even the "#1 rushing team in the nfl" lined up in the gun 409 times.

This is what the nfl is now.

When you go back and look at Zeke's highlights from early in his career they are almost all out of the deep back set. He attacks the line of scrimmage downhill and when there is a crease he sees it, puts a foot in the ground and attacks it. Even if there is a defender there to put a hand on him it doesn't even slow that beast down because he has serious forward momentum. FF to since Moore has taken over and easily 70-80% of our runs are out of shotgun.. So now the backs are nearly always waiting for the QB to bring them the ball and standing still .. It's absolute lunacy.. Especially given the leakage that our o-line seems to allow on nearly every run. Having the back standing next to the QB takes away vision and leverage against the defense. Great if you're Barry Sanders.. but for a downhill runner like Zeke it's just a mismatch. I can't stand watching him stand there waiting to be given the ball and have to fight off a free defender almost instantly. Ironically Pollard IS more of the jitterbug type back but even he is not equipped to have consistent success if there are defenders helping him take the handoff. This is going to be a looooonnnnnnng year.

You mean can we get out of the 3 yard sling shot or Nerf gun.

How many times did they hand it off from shotgun? Nobody is arguing that shotgun needs to be eliminated, just need to mix in more plays from under center, and that means more passing plays from under center as well, otherwise you're just telegraphic run every time. Like I pointed out in the other response, Dak is actually very effective with play action. Let's do something he's actually good at.

No. We have Boy Wonder calling the plays. Can someone post him with that leather helmet at Boise State?

Someone like Jim Harbaugh would be best to right this team. They need to get back to hard core smash mouth football. Need to set up the pass off the run. Moore is insanely pass happy.

Sorry, the number i have been posting is the pass attempts. Only from Hurts in this instance...more because i believe Minshew played a game as well.

I think you will see Rush more under center because he did it a lot in college.

Well done.

If KMo doesn't have the ability to do this, then get someone in here that can either take over or teach him. This is what you get when you hire a baby as OC.

Where does this horrible narrative come from?

114 rating under center last year.
where the others come from Parroting fans build fake narratives gains steam and those not paying attention, believe it, and continue to post fake narratives all over the internet..

Just like zekes downfall they say zeke has fallen apart and no longer a top runner or a better starter then Pollard and we keep seeing zeke comes our first half of season last year 5.1 ypc and looked great until injury, game one 5.2 YPC they stop feeding him..

2019 MOORE promoted- zekes start of decline
2020 no dak, no OL, MOORE retained to help dak stay comfy , NO real shot at success more decline of OL
2021 just showed that 1k on one leg 2 injuries again a dysfunctional OL and OC alleged worst season of his career.

2022- could have had big game Moore decided it wasn't going to have 8 carries first half 2 in the 2nd how is it a bell cow RB keeps getting under 15 cares a game for how long now?..no establishing the run. When a Back like Zeke is warming up start to get hot nearly break few bigger runs and you decide 10 carries is it!!!! close game , defense kept them in it , once again OC and OL just capping Zekes Cowboy Career off with fans blaming Zeke.

Ummhe got paid in 19 see above actual more realistic reasons for his decline. nothing to do with money, effort, or desire. More like the OC and OL. and IF this isnt being addressed its on MM because hes not insisting to Jones to make that change,

Moore to me is now in Nolan territory. a change is needed BEFORE its too late! when players playing terrible they get pulled umm hows that different then Moore when your HC has been a play caller in a SB!!

I'm assuming he means from under center. All of his snaps from under center are quick throws, playaction, or runs. There's no 5-7 step drops from under center. Never has been.

exactly
He’s limited in his ability to read defenses which limits his ability to throw with anticipation and that’s why we have a ton of curl routes (like the Bucs pointed out). Dak has to actually see a WR open before he throws. Can’t run an NFL offense like that
At some point we will have to face facts

Going to blow up this fallacy once and for all...

Dak rating under center was 114.

For his career it is 105, the highest of any type of play.

Seriously, they parrot the same narratives without ever actually attempting to understand if it's true. I hate how many times this week I've attempted to defend a qb who is deserving of criticism. Unfortunately, detractors are so ridiculously hyperbolic I can't help it.

That article used stats to back up an opinion. At the end of the day it's still... the authors opinion. Belief in opinions vary just like the opinions themselves vary.

It is too much for any QB to read an option route while coming from under center. So these numbnuts need to cut down on the option routes. Which is exactly what we're about to see with Rush starting. Moore is going to call more west coast style of plays to protect Rush. But he doesn't realize he should be doing the same thing for Dak.

Jerry doesn't play it that way. Remember when Jerry insisted on playing a limping Marion Barber? Dude couldn't even walk but there he was being reduced to ineffectiveness due to injury, but still out there sucking!!!!

Taking his rating, "from under center," includes playaction. We're referring to the traditional, "pro-style," offense which ran the passing game from under center. Timing routes based on the rhythm of the 5 or 7 step drops have not existed in this offense since Romo's time.

It makes you predictable when your QB takes a snap from under center because there's no intermediate or deep routes, unless it's playaction. Mid-2000's it seemed a bunch of teams just decided to stop trying to get guys to learn it. But the better QBs in the last decade still ran it.

The premise he's incapable is my hang up. We need coaches to coach it first.

Then there is the idea we signed this dude for 160 million knowing he can't take a snap from under center. Jerry is dumb, but is he that dumb?

Lately, I can't even answer that.

The whole damn experiment is riddled with suck variables that make it impossible to decipher. KM, Philbin, and MM are next level trash.
