All true and Rush isn't the long term answer either but at least he doesn't seem to panic in the pocket under pressure or in crucial moments of the game. What Rush is really doing is exposing all of Daks flaws...that have always been there but been ignored
When Rush makes Dak look totally inept imagine if we had a Herbert type under center????
Funny how Rush could see our totally inept WR lol and Dakko was blind as a Dak Bat!!!

Dallas has scored exactly 20 points in each of Rush's two starts, for example, & that is typically not good enough to win in 2022, even when you have a good D like the Cowboys have over these last two seasons. Dallas was the No. 7 scoring D a year ago, & still allowed 21.1 points per game. The average team scored 22.9 per contest. If you only manage 20, more often than not, you are going to lose.

That said, Rush will NEVER replace Dak!

Dak didn’t take any job from Romo. The team refused to allow Romo to even competr for his job back or even play with the starters, despite looking much better than Dak in practice. The whole excuse was Dak wasn’t a ‘practice player’, wasn’t a better passer, but has “it” on the field. And we’ve seen where this got us. Wasted a roster ready for a prime SB run.

They knew Dak wouldn’t survive with Romo looking over his shoulder, especially with season 2 where he took incompetent QB play to a whole different level. Guy had like 3 INT returned for a TD in like 4 games to start the season and Linehan had to start running the ball over 20 times a game.

Do you just make up stuff in your head and convince yourself that it actually happened? Dak didn't commit his first NFL turnover until week 6 of his rookie season at Green Bay.. Then in season 2 he threw exactly one pick six at the end of the game during the debacle in Denver and then threw one other in the week 15 game against Seattle. So two the entire season equates to 3 in 4 games on your planet. I'm sure springtime is nice there..

How do you know this? He has played in 2 NFL games and won them both. The rest of the time the only playing time has been in pre season games playing along side 3rd and 4th team players trying to make the roster, along with the practice squad. Its best to wait and see how the next 5 games play out.

I know this because he has been on the roster for 5 years already. He was cut this offseason and not one team in the league opted to pick him up on their practice squad or active roster. He is not some unknown commodity. I hope all of you are correct in declaring him the next Tom Brady, but we really need to be honest with ourselves here. Even if he goes 5-1 after the next couple of games I really don't know if it changes what he has shown himself to be: a serviceable spot starter in the NFL. Those are valuable to have on the roster too and we should be glad we have a competent backup. Do people really think Cooper Rush puts us any closer to a Super Bowl than Dak?

If we are being truthful, great defensive play and timely offensive spurts won the Minnesota & Cincinnati games. The offensive performance against Cincy was actually pretty dreadful outside of the first and last drives.

6-2?

If we somehow got to 4-4 after 8 games, I'd consider that a massive win.
@ Giants
Commanders
@ Rams
@ Eagles
Lions
Bears
Wins next Monday night and the three home games...5-3 is doable in my opinion.

Cooper Rush gonna be worth picks at that point..I mean look he can exspose your Starting QB's flaws..lol...this place is ridiculous sometimes. He cant throw a 10+ yard out the only thing he is exsposing is that the OC is extremly lazy when his QB1 is playing..KM needs to put the same effort into gameplans with Dak and things will look much better with the current WR core. Again Dak is not Rodgers Mahomes and such but he MILES better than Rush and its ashame it takes QB1 getting hurt for the boy genius to do his job.

They're going to get Dak back as quick as possible even if it's too early.

Dak will get his job back because Rush won't have enough time to go on a run like we did in 2016.

The problems will start when/if Dak starts playing bad. If Rush plays well and Dak comes in a stinks it up then you're going to have drama in big D.

I could see this being a Foles/Wentz situation where Dak tries to come out and show he's the man but just plays bad instead because his confidence is shattered.

Very true. Additionally Romo was a 12 year veteran and getting more injury prone and was already 2-4 in the playoffs so some fans and the FO were ready for a change. Prescott is supposed to be in his prime and the FO is still attached to their failing experiment……he’s not going anywhere soon.

If Rush is ballin’ and looks like a potential franchise QB, and we’re winning games? Keep him in there!

Huge “if”. Enormous “if”.

Well said Nav. We are finally on the same page. If you’ve noticed I didn’t latch onto Rushs teat just because he’s NOT Dak. I’d like to think my credibility is worth something

of course I’d love to see Rush play at a level higher than most of us think is possible because that means that we’ve been winning. But lack of arm strength, escapability and experience have to count for something

Rush has shown poise, and decisiveness, and we still don’t know his football acumen and that’s all I can really point to at this time. His inexperience will be his biggest concern. Imagine him having to face a Belichick defense at some point?

Just, wow. Rush had like 3 good looking drives. Also, teams have very little film on him. If Noah Brown doesn't catch that deflected pass none of these threads would exist. Dak has looked awful since the playoff game last year and I know many of us are frustrated at his play to contract ratio, but my goodness people. Y'all are acting like Rush just carved up a defense like Josh Allen. If Dak gets back and looks like he did against TB while Rush is serviceable then at that point this conversation would make much more sense. So many people have made good and fair points about how poorly Dak has played but you completely destroy your credibility acting like Rush is better when Sunday was a big team win.

Which is something Jerry doesn't want! That's why we never sign good backup QBs. You will hear the BOOs, soon as Dak makes a bad play

This, anyone but Dak is only a good thing for people who just dont like Dak, not good for the team...you have an upgrade lets see it because Rush aint it.

Prescott by far is the better quarterback. But it’s a very good question I don’t know what the franchise will do.
The franchise will go back to Prescott for sure; but the FO and coaching staff will be pleased that Rush developed into a capable backup after five and a half years...and well-pleased with themselves for sticking with him.

Romo went out on back to back injuries. He got injured the season prior and came in preseason and got injured again. The writing was on the wall with Romo. If Rush is on an ultra win streak though, I keep him in there. You don't mess with momentum.

I suspect things get a little murkier as film on Rush stacks up, too.

Is Dak on a short leash now? Does Dak believe this? Will Dak force throws hes not comfortable with now that there might be pressure on him to prove himself? Does that lead to INT's?

Unfortunately we will never know the answer on if the flaws posters here speculate on(Dak is afraid to throw in tight windows, average arm strength, abilitt to read, manipulate and process the defense) are issues the coaching staff talk about behind closed doors. We paid him. Question is if these possible flaws were brought up before the signing or not and how significant the coaches thought they were to winning.

When we win on Sunday, I’m in a good mood until at least Wednesday.

I feel sorry for people who can’t enjoy the journey.
I also don't get fans overly concerning themselves with situations and decisions about players in future,
while the season is in full swing.

Romo lost his job to a hot Prescott.

Does the same happen to Prescott ???

If we are 6-2 by the bye, then Prescott has the rest of the year to recover.

I'm just sayin' ...
Maybe 2-6 but that's as good as it gets. If we go 3-5 I will be surprised.

Good points. I mean, we've seen Dak play at an elite level. Some of the throws he made versus Tampa last year (and really until his calf injury) were incredible. So he's got the capability to be great, particularly if he would ever start consistently using his mobility again. Everything going on with Dak is between his ears. He hasn't been the same since that calf injury and it's only declined. It's like he stopped being able to read the field. He plays rushed and scared and hasn't looked composed in some time unless it was a random NFC east team blowout. It's really going to come down to if Dak can overcome whatever is going on with him mentally. If he can then I believe this team can do well, especially if the OL actually becomes solid and Gallup and Washington come back. If he can't then they'll start looking for a replacement. Whatever happens, I hope it's one extreme or another. I hope he either comes back and gets back to form and plays at an elite level or I hope he completely implodes and falls off. I don't want him to do just enough for them to keep him around year after year.

Rush was beyond 4 years and was released, because he was expected to resign anyways and going back to Dallas, he didn’t need to clear waivers. He had right of refusal for anybody. He didn’t try to sign anywhere else.

You don’t go into the season without any QB backup.
