At what point do we seriously start to consider Rush as starter?

So what was limited with the play book the last 2 games? QB runs? Lol

We’re not running most of our typical downfield passing concepts, such as all verts and post corner which we run all the time with Dak. Almost everything more than 10 yards down the field has been play action with heavy protection or rollouts. We aren’t letting Cooper Rush stand in the pocket and make multiple downfield reads.

HUH not sure what you are saying, its making zero sense, ok you need help some serious help.
And as usual a Dak Prescott supporter is unable to answer a simple question. I asked where did I state in my earlier post that Cooper Rush is a better quarterback than Dak Prescott? My point was highlighting how backup/practice squad quarterbacks have won multiple games with the same roster as Prescott and that he wasn't worth being paid $40 million i.e., elite money.

Rush has been solid....but come on....he is no where near the QB Dak is.

I'll say this. If somehow....somehow....gets us to 4-1 (beating the defending SB champs on the road), then I might start considering the fact that Rush might be an effective starter. But right now, he's been a good backup. Dak is clearly the starter.

This. I feel like Dak holds onto the ball for an eternity compared to Rush. Rush is decisive.
Dak seems to only throw when guy is open, and tries to launch it in. He cannot anticipate the play and throw early...drives me crazy, he is the exact opposite of Tom Brady

Dak has a career QB rating of 94.6 against teams that finish the year with a winning record. Since 2016, only four guys are better in such games and all four will be in the HOF one day.

For perspective, Dak is better against teams with winning records than Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson, Justin Herbert, Kirk Cousins, David Carr, Joe Burrow, Ryan Tannehill, Matthew Stafford, Matt Ryan, Jared Goff, Kyler Murray and Jimmy G.

Its not as fun when you play this way

Rush clearly reads the field and makes decisions faster than Prescott.

If there is one thing that stands out watching Cooper Rush play it’s how slow Dak Prescott makes decisions.

I have to agree with this and it’s also what Steve Young was referring to last week. It actually reminds me of when they dumbed down the offense for Dak his rookie year when Romo went down. Playing within the offense.

Dak has been in the league for 7 years. Good vet QBs barely play a snap all preseason and come out playing well aka Allen, Mahomes, etc. Dak has been babied his whole career, don’t make excuses for him.
And clearly Dak is not good enough that he can just walk on the field and play at a high level. It is not an excuse -- it is recognizing Dak's limitations. He isn't a natural passer and so he will always need repetitions.

Here is the thing though. Rush at his salary and we still have Amari Cooper and maybe some more pieces with the added cap space?

None of that matters if you don’t have a QB who can stand in and read a defense. What we’re doing can work against average to bad teams when you have a good defense and running game. It doesn’t lead to long term success.

Rush is only going to end up playing one decent defense (the Rams) but we won’t beat them doing what we did the last two games. They have the athletes to eat up what we’re currently doing.

I agree. They are not winning because of him but he’s making plays especially today. Dak’s still better it’s not close.
I don't get the need to choose

i mean when dak got hurt this place said and i cant help myself we will be in trouble if we dont trade for a qb( Jimmy G huh) because rush is trash. now hes the next coming.? brown was trash, now hes jerry rice.. no way 73 couldn't hold down LT, now hes what? fans are trash opinions change byte millisecond.

Wait until Dak comes back to make any type of decision. No sense in them RUSHing the decision before then.

I agree. Since Dak just got his stitches out, we should rest him for one more week. His first game back should be against the Rams. ;)

I don’t like doing this, and I generally shy away from taking people behind the woodshed because it’s unbecoming. But I cannot abide this level of stupidity and/or bias.

People here are just BLINDED by their hatred of Dak.

Dak has been very dependent on having a great OLine and great receiving core we don't really have either right now. Dak looked mediocre until we got Amari. Now that Amari is gone can Dak built a rapport with Ceedee (he has almost none) and Noah Brown? Rush seems to have no problem getting it to either. Dak holds onto the ball too long and with this Oline that's a bad thing he's going to have his ups and downs. He's feasted off the NFC East being garbage (it's better now) but against winning teams the last 4 years he's 8-17, if we were in another division I would bet he would have already been out of a job.

Everyone knows the QB position is the most important position in all of sports so you can't just give the credit to the team when Rush wins and blame the team when Dak loses. Dak is basically Kirk Cousins. If it were me I would stay with Rush until he proves he can't handle the starting job instead of just giving it back to Dak automatically. Dak was a 4th round pick who got the job over Romo because he looked good and he deserved it because again he needs everything to be almost perfect we had great OLine great RB and WRs. It seems that Rush is a better fit for the team we have now than Dak is.

I realize it was a one game sample size but last year Dak lost every game we didn't rush for 100+ yards and won every game we did rush for 100+, the only game we won with rushing for less than 100 yards was with Rush.

And before I'm called a Dak hater I was a huge Dak supporter in 2016 and for a good while after but I eventually lost faith. He's a middle of the pack QB he's not top 10 and I don't think he can take us to a Super Bowl I'm not saying Rush can either but I'd give him a shot.

Right now. He’s the hot hand. Similar to 2016, you STICK with the hot hand. Players like Ceedee and Brown have clearly improved since Rush entered the game. No telling how much Gallup will improve when he comes in as well.

you don’t take out a winning starter. Rush will remain the QB1. He’s 3-0 as a starter.
Remember it's Jerry's decision.
Is he gonna pay Dak 40 million to ride the pine?

I'd be interested to see his rating in playoff games.

Prior to last year’s game it was 93.4 through his first three career playoff starts. Last year’s performance dragged him down as he only had a rating of 69.3.

But regardless the only relevant question to this thread and your question is how would Cooper Rush have done in those games? The answer is we don’t know because none of those teams would have made the playoffs with Cooper Rush in the first place.

I know many fans say last week, but seriously, he keeps winning and it might be a real question.
No don't go there.

Nothing against Cooper Rush. He stays within his game & doesn't do silly things, but he isn't an NFL starting QB.
