What is he outside the worst division in the NFL the past 6 years?

Against good teams, he's really bad most every time.
Stop that. Dak defeated Wodgers IN GB & Worthlisberger IN Pittsburgh. Why some fans conveniently forget those games is hilarious!

That face last night. That's the face of "oh crap," and now Dak is running to microphones insisting his thumb is healing lightning fast. He knows he need to head this off now while he believes he still has the chance.

But it's too late. Ship done sailed.

Jerry is getting that bounce in his step, not just from the wins, but from all the positive hubbub about his team so suddenly. Jerry has always been about the here-and-now and the buzz, and right now the league is aflutter with Cooper and the Cowboys. Jerry is blushing with giddiness.

Dak notices. And he's concerned. He was on the other side of this equation not so many years ago.

Cooper Rush is not the future of Dallas Cowboys football, nor is he actually setting the league on fire. However, he is showing that he knows how to play the position with poise and limited skill when tasked to do so, as a good backup quarterback should. The Cowboys quite obviously have a very good backup QB, and we didn't even really know it until now.

Therein lies the sudden problem. Dak knows the starter here is equally as limited, but without the poise and willingness to get the ball out quickly to intermediate routes with anticipatory throws. Dak takes so many unnecessary sacks that Rush does not, and his scatter-gun arm shrivels up and hides when it's time to take the shot to often.

What really caught my eye last night, and I'm sure Dak's, were two throws from Rush when he reached back and put some mustard on the ball. One to Noah Brown over the middle, and one to CeeDee on the crucial 4th down. I didn't know he had that ability, but he ripped those throws on a line.

After Barkley scored and put the Giants up, Rush settled the offense and led them to 17 points in the next three possessions. That's good stuff when it mattered most in that game, which could have been a 34-10 whooping if the Cowboys would have just gotten out of their own way at times.

The other thing you see is a sudden confidence amidst the poise with Rush. He now knows he's long for this league one way or the other. He's got Chase Daniel money coming his way now, and the team is responding to him. Yet another observation Dak has made as well, no doubt.

As I stated last week, there's a hornet's nest awaiting Dak coming out of this injury, and he'd better be ready to be a very different quarterback when it gets here. He got booed out of the stadium in Week 1, and the natives are not pining for him to return. A bad beginning is going to bring the fan base down on him worse than this run of injuries he's had.

Worse yet, what eyes will be looking back at him in the huddle? "Glad you're back," or "where's Cooper?" What will those eyes be saying?

Dak is at the precipice of proving himself once and for all, or losing his place here forever. This is it, and his face last night looked like he knew it.

The word you are looking for is Stop Gap.

Prescott is basically a bridge quarterback at this point. He's firmly in the Garoppolo, Bridgewater, Winston ranking of quarterbacks. The Cowboys should 100% invest in a high draft pick in a quarterback next season and use that season as a bridge between Prescott and the new QB. He can't be released this upcoming offseason because of the dead cap, but maybe in the next season where he gradually loses his position to the new guy will make it more palatable cap wise.

Prescott has a place in this league and that's as a veteran retread.

Only thing I agree with is that Dak waits to try for the home run. We played the dolphins one year during a win streak. We were clearly the better team but in the first half we did nothing but take odd long shots down field. Instead of taking the mid range or even shorter passes that were open he would wait and throw deep passes to double covered players. Very low percentage plays. Came out in the second half and blew them up. After the game he said him and Moore got greedy in the first half. He seems to still do that sometimes. Many times I see him look off a 7 yard gimmie play that puts the ball in a play makers hands and goes for the 15 or longer shot. One thing Rush does is take what they give him. Now if they give him the match up then he will take the shot down field deep but he will take that 7 yard on the run pass. You can’t have a TD pass on every play. I hope when Dak comes back he starts taking some of these plays.

Princess liked collecting his 40 million but I do not believe that he is enjoying the change in expectations that came along with that. His days of being the beloved 4th round pick who can do no wrong are over. He is quickly turning into the often injured and over paid princess that is annoying to everyone and is being outplayed by a practice squad guy. He needs to get himself going again and fast. IMHO if the offense went back to a 2016 approach that used his mobility as a primary weapon we could see a return to form. As it stands the powers that be appear to insist that he becomes the next Tom Brady from the pocket unfortunately that seems like a pipe dream.
All too brother but once they get paid they don't think they should run anymore

Green Bay was losing every week during that stretch, and yes, Dak was terrific in Pittsburgh.

But since 2016, he continues to regress each year, much like Zeke.

I don't know maybe the fact he is 42 and 27 as starting QB.
Wow! That’s amazing! Canton is his next stop. How many good teams has he beaten and what’s his playoff record? You can’t be taken seriously if you are still defending Dud Dak. All the Dak supporters who are left have an agenda other than the Boys getting back to the big dance or they no nothing about the QB position in pro football. Which is it? Maybe your a madden-fantasy # guy?

I don't mind if we go back to dak, but there will be pressure on him. I'm sorry but I'm sick of seeing dak change the plays, I'm sick of him not taking any deep shots. Then half the game he spends checking down. On top of that he refuses to use his legs.

Its drop back, if his first read isn't there he checks the ball down. Rinse and repeat. If he won't use his legs again he won't be the quarterback he was. We all saw when he was at his best he used to throw on the run. For some reason we turned him into a strict pocket passer.

They already do deploy that scheme.

The difference is, with Rush, the ball is out quick. With Dak, it's pat-pat-pat-pat, then checkdown or sack.

Moore can only call the play. It's up to Dak to make the decision on what to do with the ball.

And opponents know this.

Bingo !

Look, Rush is playing good backup type football. However, he isn't playing THAT well to take a QB with a franchise contract's job. I'm not even a fan of Dak, but he has little to worry about until we see Rush in true adversity.
Only stat that matters are W's at the end of the day.

The funny thing is "everyone" is saying the NFCE is improved. If Rush and Co. manage a win......oh boy!

GO COWBOYS!
It gets serious quickly and will not be an easy decision if Rush gets another win vs Commandos, even Rams now we are talking .
This team playing like it is now, will get the next two games.
This team is just now figuring out how good they are, and how much better they can become.
So Cox has been invisible so far, but we need someone to come in and improve that area of LVE presence, not hating on him yet, but we need someone to show up like Cox maybe even try and transition Harper in a few looks, maybe nitpicking but if we can improve at MLB then my all means do so.
This defense is closing holes, maybe not as fast as we want to see asap, but this defense is evolving into juggernaut status quickly.
Nasty pass rush lead the league in sacks and most defiantly pressures for those stat masters that love to evaluate stats, pressures are so undervalued, yet so valuable.

Dak’s confidence is shot. He appears like he can’t handle the pressure of the big stage anymore. Rush doesn’t seem bothered. Three times he’s won in hostile, either need to comeback or change the momentum, environments, and that is huge for QBs. What Rush may not have in QB tangible talent he seems to actually make up with this intangible — he’s “Composure” Rush, for now. Dak seems to be the opposite recently. Romo actually pointed this out about Rush in a comment — I’m going to ignore any “jaded” comments in response — during the Cinci game and he seems to be correct as he knows what he’s talking about.
