Cowboys have drafted more pro bowlers than any other team since 2000

It highlights the reality that you can't build a team just by drafting alone. For all the pro bowlers we drafted since 2000, we have three freaking playoff wins since 2000.

Poor coaching hires and stupidity in FA have been what has held us back. That's on Jerry and no one else.

I was surprised when I heard this statement but it goes to show that Jerry Jones is really good at the draft. But he cannot hire a good coach and if he does, he butts heads with them which keeps them from coaching well.

I think we are really good at drafting better than average players. Many of these make the pro bowl simply because fan voting is part of the process (and we have lots of fans) and because the two super bowl teams’ players don’t participate in the pro bowl. I’d rather be known for drafting the most all pro players. The pro bowl has become rather meaningless but the stat says we can find decent players. What we need is a culture that brings the best out of them.

Should we give more credit to Jerry and Stephen Jones on this? Or should Jerry get more blame since he has been unable to find a successful coach to guide this amount of wasted talent since 2000?

It's not about finding a coach ...... It's about the fundamental way they build a football team.

They draft well ...... But they refuse to allow a coach to control the team.

Dallas has been one of the better drafting teams, but the Pro Bowl is a bit of joke.

I remember back in 2007 when they were still voting mid-season on the pro-Bowl and Dallas got off to a blazing start.
They were the new darling of the NFL and fans voted every player with a pulse into the Pro Bowl that year. It was ludicrous.

We still have fans today who point to all those "pro Bowlers" as a legit reflection of that team.
Sure, they were good, but not THAT good.

At least now, the voting is later. But now we have another flaw in that so many can opt out or claim injury, and the replacements of the replacements of the replacements still get to claim they are Pro Bowlers.

It's silly

And none of them have won a Super Bowl with the cowboys. If I was a pro bowl player this is the last team I would want to land on. It is a grave yard for pro bowlers. Dallas does hit on certain draft picks, but also many busts but Jones’s thrift store bargain basement develop exclusively with the draft is not working and never has. There are people on here that contend Jones is a smart guy. My contention is dumb is as dumb does. He has no football intelligence irrespective of his propensity to make money.

Unfortunately there are multiple ways to add talent to a roster. It takes a combination of all of that and a good HC to being home another Lombardi. You can't get there by just drafting good.

This would be great if the pro bowl actually meant something. It’s a crap game that has absolutely nothing to do with the success of the “team“.most pro bowlers is a garbage stat when you can’t win in January!

Pro Bowl is one of the most overrated stats in existence. How many of those guys were alternates who only got the nod because better players opted out of participating?

All-Pro is a much better barometer.
