Cowboys have drafted more pro bowlers than any other team since 2000

I think it's a significant indictment of the front office who can't win but 3 playoff games in that span. Who cares about pro bowlers? Winning in January is the goal. I give Jerry and Stephen minimal credit for those draft picks and will go further by saying their influence in the draft room is more than likely more of a liability.

Judging a player by Super Bowl wins is the most overrated stat in history
 
With rare exception in Cap era you need an Elite QB and or Elite defense to win a championship . We haven’t had either.

We’ve had some very talented players. Vey likely 2 HOF OL and a TE. Maybe a DE. They went to multiple Pro Bowls. We’ve had a couple leading rushers. And some talented WR1. Enough talent to remain interesting and relative but not enough for deeper runs for the first reason stated.

The toxic culture created by our dysfunctional ownership is greatest obstacle to overcome which includes undermining our HC’s. It’s just not a very cohesive environment for winning.

True, it's a double edge sword. So if you have drafted this type of talent and have not won anything with it.....what is the freaking problem.? The culture, the coaching, the Jerry/Stephen anchor around the team's neck? Must be a reason.
We all know who the one constant person and common denominator is during all this time.....Ay, there's the rub.

This! If there was a culture of accountability there would be playoff wins from all this great talent. That’s not happening until Jerry is gone.

It is actually a moot issue we have nothing to show for it and the message is if you want to enter the pro bowl grave yard get drafted by Dallas. The only way a good player will win a super bowl is to be traded or leave via free agency.

Wow people were just telling me on another thread what a genius Jerry is. Wow.
 
Too reliant on the draft. They don’t build a roster properly which is sad because most successful teams aren’t as good as they are in the draft but superior to them in roster building.

Giants and Eagles didn’t have championship defenses or franchise qbs have they? I can’t remember how good or bad the Eagles defense was.

The common denominator is bargain basement thrift store mentality, trying to win exclusively through the draft, and the fair number of busts despite the rare Parsons. LVE is a bust. Jaylon is a bust. Cox is not panning out. Gifford is sub average. Of course there is Ridgeway and Hill all busts. And then the bargain basement free agents like Barr and Fowler who are declining. You cant win Super Bowls with patched clothing with tobacco stains. But what a freakin bargain. That is because we have given $160 million to another 4th round bargain.

But people keep telling me what a genius Jerry is. Wow. I thought he was Carnac! You are not going to win Super Bowls picking busts and shopping at the thrift store. LVE should have been gone when Jaylon left or when his precipitous decline was evident and the same for others. As bad as Jerry’s picker is, he will never win another super bowl. He will be dead first.

Again, another not very meaningful statistic. We hit on four big time, HOF picks in Ware, Tyron, Witten, and Zack. When you have those perennial pro bowl players it spikes your numbers. Those guys got quite a few pro bowl appearances on reputation late in their careers.

I think a better measure is the number of players who have made pro bowls or even the number who had careers longer than expected for their draft round.

Better still -- how many absolute clunkers did we have? Carpenter, Charlton, Goodrich, Carter, Dixon, Rodgers, Escobar, Jaylon ... all premium picks. How does that compare to other teams?
 
The issue with the roster isn’t drafting.

The problem is free agents and contracts. Some of the free agents we’ve signed in that time frame munched major booty, and now it seems like it’s sacred Jerry and Sons away from ever signing a big time FA, relying on our genius coaches to just coach up draft picks instead.

Plus, we’ve handed out awful contracts to guys like Elliott, and mismanaged the roster in general.
 
We have been very good at drafting. You have to give them credit there- I know most won’t it will turn into “yes but there all fan votes how many all pros” but the fact is they draft very well and particularly with first round picks.

where they lack is hiring coaches and filling out the staff and allocating dollars via free agency or lack there of.
