Well since Halloween is coming. What scary horror movies do you recommend to see?
There's a lot of great Asian horror, in many cases they had American remakes, but stick with the original Asian movies, there's always creepier...
Ringu
Audition
Train To Busan
The Eye
Shutter
Ju-On: The Grudge
A Tale of Two Sisters
Dark Water
There's a lot more, but that should get you started.
@MichaelWinicki is our resident horror expert, I'm sure he'll have a ton of great recommendations.
My opinion? The Exorcist explores medical, psychological and scientific explanations for Regan's behavior throughout much of the movie. Even the subplot involving the police investigation of the lethal fall down the stairs next to the townhouse is methodically based in the explainable. Every aspect is examined to the smallest detail. Nothing about the supernatural is accepted by anyone...What is it about " the Exorcist " that seems to be the horror movie that all horror flicks are compared to ?
What made it such a unique stick that it has been extremely hard to duplicate it's success ?
It's been a ton of " Exorcism " related theme, but it's so lame and lethargic it's guilty pleasure laughable .

I watched the Exorcist in Timothy Leary modeMy opinion? The Exorcist explores medical, psychological and scientific explanations for Regan's behavior throughout much of the movie. ...until the final 1/4 of the movie when nothing else makes sense except what cannot be explained. Now, they, and audience, must accept evil in its truest form. And some of the audience, like myself, get caught up in a what if they cannot escape despite knowing none of it is real.
No other exorcism-themed movie has ever come close to duplicating that feat in my opinion.
