Can this team contend when Dak gets back?

Not sure our run D is good enough. Going to need to get leads and get the pass rush going.
What fans overlook is the Dallas D hasn't given up more than 17 points in a game during Rush's run. It is the first time the D has held the team's first four opponents to 19 points or fewer since 1973. It's not the quarterback (s), it's this outstanding Defense Quinn has put together. All the QB has to do is score a few points to win the game while the D puts the nail in the opponents coffin.

Your support of Zeke gets even older. Did you ever think that if homers like you stopped hailing Zeke guys like me might stop bashing him?

And no doubt the first 100 yard game Zeke gets you will be throwing it in my face. So dont act like you dont play the game.
Zeke is a good compliment for Pollard . Problem is he’s grossly over paid for his production at this point in his career. . And we could probably find a suitable replacement for Elliott in a middle round pick .

I support all of our players and I'm not childish....I just enjoy the games for what they are and don't worry much about stats...so, no...I wouldn't throw it in your face.

Of course! the defense seems to be improved, Maher is a beast, and The LT and LG positions are miles from where they were last year and even week 1 of this year. We now actually play with special teams in mind due to Turpin. We just need to remain relatively healthy and we'll be ready for the playoff run.

That’s definitely worked so far but it’s been against below average to bottom tier offenses .

Bigger test are upcoming which should provide us a better barometer.

These games have all been nail biters into the late 3rd quarter for the most part. Not going to cut it against better teams.

I think they both compliment each other perfectly. But featuring Zeke is suicide. And certainly paying him big money is a joke.

If we lose these next two games which is likely as we will be close to a TD underdog in each one then if we are sitting at 3-3 we will begin to argue that while having a Top 10 caliber defense a bottom tier offense currently ranked at #25 isn’t cutting it.

And why these next two games will be so telling of where we actually are.

Not talking about cheering for them. You defend his poor play when there is no defense.

If Dak comes back only to have to play two of the best teams in the NFL it will be true irony. If Martin cant go this week they would be better suited letting Rush get knocked around by the Rams and save both Martin and Dak for the more important Eagles game.

Honestly, sure. Dak can get us in a position to contend.

But my overwhelming concern with Dak is that he becomes a deer-in-headlights when we face legit competition. Slow to read, slow to process, and just generally mediocre.

It's happened over and over in his career (except for the playoff game against the Packers in his rookie year, ironically).

I know you guys want to believe in him and are hesitant to speak lowly of him, and that's admirable; but at some point, you have to take reality into consideration.

Dak is good against bad teams. Dominant, even. But as soon as the stage gets big and the defenses get good, he cannot perform.

That is why I want to move on from him. I enjoy a blowout win vs the Giants or Panthers as much as anyone, but I'd like to have a chance at watching the Cowboys in the Super Bowl again before I croak (and I'm only 35).

It's easier to smile than it is to frown.....I got over the negativity several years ago. I enjoy watching football and even applaud opposing teams when I appreciate their play. I was at a Longhorns game a couple of weeks ago....the other team took a chance and ran a great play. I applauded for them because I appreciated the play.....I got a few dirty looks from some fans, including my wife. Lol
I see beyond stats, I understand schemes and why teams do what they do.....it doesn't always work, but there is a reason behind their game plans.

I think Dak can get this team into the playoffs, or maybe close to the playoffs. But, his inaccurate passing would keep the team from lasting too long against elite teams.

Regardless whether we believe in him or not he’s our best option with his talent level and production .

By most critics he’s above average to top 10 which is about where most teams are without an Elite QB. Which is usually enough to build around .And since he’s under contract he’s not going anywhere for at least another year.

Then it’s on Jethro but it appears he believes in Dak more than most fans who are more in the middle on him. Ultimately that’s our reality .

But yea, I think most fans would love to see us draft an heir apparent moving forward. Do I think that’s likely with our dysfunctional ownership. Probably not. They appear all in on Dak.

Yea, unfortunately with his history and top contract we aren’t going to put him at #2. That’s all part of our mismanaged football organization.
That and the fact that Pollars isn't built to take the pounding the Zeke does. Pollard had a bad game yesterday, but will bounce back. He doesn't need to be running between the tackles.

You're right on all accounts. I am resigned to knowing we are stuck with Dak, but I still like to complain about it :)

I don't know, I guess I'm pretty envious of the teams that aren't scared to make drastic moves for the sake of winning. I wish Jerry still had some of that steamboat gambler in him.

My undying loyalty is to the Cowboys (I have no choice in the matter haha) but I really respect what teams like the Dolphins and Bucs and Eagles and Rams do.

They're continuously in the market and they're unafraid to chase a championship.

Could you imagine the haul we'd get by trading Dak to a team like the Seahawks or Panthers or Saints (Dak might even waive his no trade clause to go to NO)? That could set us up for a decade+.

I’m not the biggest of Prescott fans but I do think we need him back in there ASAP.

The bloom is going to wear off the Rush rose before all that long once more tape is available, but I also wouldn’t have an inaccurate when healthy Prescott trying to play at less than 100% given the nature of his injury.

I dunno….maybe that forces us into keeping the same game plan of late if he returns at less than full strength.

When Prescott is used correctly, this team has a shot to make some noise.

I hear ya. I’ve pretty well conceded that we aren’t seriously pursuing championships as long as our 80 year old embarrassment is in charge . Lol
