We can get after Stafford just as good as the niners...can we force them to throw the ball by stopping the run is the question.

i think we do ..in Tony Pollard, - who ironically was doing a similar rover role at Memphis State.

But simply and plain , we just don't have that kind of OC in Kellen Moore.
If it were placed in McCarthy hands at the beginning, , that may be a different story.
RBs have been so greatly under-utilized and under developed under Kellen, imo.

If you see Pollard in motion, it's more as a mere decoy.
If that dude does to a KC Chiefs, he'd be game breaking factor in the pass game- once they've developed him the way Kellen did not , imo.

Pollard isn’t close to Deebo. Lol What makes Deebo special is his strength. He has a thick base and is very difficult to bring down. Pollard doesn’t have near the power that Deebo has. On the 50+ yard TD catch Deebo had last night he was shaking off defenders. He can push a pile like Zeke used to. We don’t have a receiver like that. No team in the league does. Pollard needs space to use his speed. Against Washington he had 8 carries for 6 yards.

Might have the blueprint but do the Cowboys have the D or run game and they do not have a Samuel.

The 49ers are a tough and physical team. They beat us up last year. I'm not sure we have the same sheer physicality as them to take it to the Rams like they did.

I thought Elliot was going to score a touchdown. But it goes down way easier after being touched than I thought he would. I wish Pollard hadElliot size

When you are ganged tackled just about every time yeah, one tends to go down easier.

He did not go down so easy though on his TD against the NYG after being touched like 5 times though.

We need to shore-up the run defense, especially on the right side of the d-line; control Aaron Donald, which is difficult since they move him around to create mis-matches; pressure Stafford like we’re capable; and stay balanced on offense.

The 49ers are a physical team on both sides of the ball and we must natch their physicality vs the Rams. This is a big game and we have to show-up and start fast. In the past, the Cowboys start slow, look sluggish and don’t match the intensity of their opponents. We need to play smart and physical for four quarters.

This game will be a good measuring stick for this team; the Rams are a talented, well-coached team. A win would do wonders for the Cowboys’ psyche and confidence.

I think our defense can rival the SF defense as to being physical. At least they are starting to show it.
Offense has a ways to go yet. But I think they are getting the OL heading in that direction. The WR's also, just that we don't have a Deebo on the team. Well, no other teams does either.
Zeke is a physical and punishing runner. But they still need to get the run blocking to open up better holes to counter Moore's insanity to keep trying runs into a stacked line.

It will be a tough game regardless.

Blueprint?? The 49ers basically beat the living hell out of them.. Matthew Stafford was hit 17-times and was sacked 7-times. The 49ers simply over-powered the Rams and beat them into submission.. It's no surprise though, the 49ers have owned the Rams for years.
Agreed, 49ers did to the Rams what they did to us in the playoffs

the 49er backup DTs are probably better than our starters, they have awesome LBs and too.

POLLARD got a lot of the slow designed running plays I hate them, we're losing ground instead of going forward! Get rid of the stretch plays

It seems as if Moore is falling in love with himself. Play to their strengths.

They did it mainly via defense, plus some good execution on offense. That makes me think the Cowboys have a chance to knock off the Super Bowl champs, not that it will be easy.
Just make sure Amber Heard isn't at SoFi Stadium Sunday! :muttley:

I will be absolutely shocked if Moore is patient enough to run the ball against the Rams anywhere near as much as the 49ers did. I know he has been balanced now three weeks in a row but he did it for four weeks last year but couldn't help himself and went pass happy at the first sign the running game was not working. The running game was shut down last game and to his credit he stayed with it even though it wasn't very productive. In doing so it created play action opportunities for some downfield shots and it also kept the Ratscums from being able to tee off on Rush.. which they absolutely would have done because they were destroying our offensive line. Kudos to Moore for not making that kid drop back 50 times against that pass rush. It would have been a disaster.. But I can't believe Moore didn't make a mental note of how ineffective the running game was overall and won't be spending all this week digging out his 2000 pass plays..

The problem with the Rams is that are badly beaten up along the front line. Not much of a run game and you can rattle Stafford. Defense is still top notch. Because of the injuries I think we have a shot. But Rams coming off a tough loss.

Niners have a much better Oline than we do. They also have a much better OC and defense.

Wish we had our version of Deebo. The 49ers defense ranks number two. They’re a very physical team. The Rams are beatable but we’re going to have to have more offense/TDs on Sunday. Despite how good our defense has played we’re going to have a difficult time holding them down all day. I can see us winning this game but I can’t see it if we’re settling for FG’s all day. We’re going to have to come up with some big plays on offense. The Rams should be pretty pissed off after what happened to them tonight.

Pollard can be Deebo like for sure. If they gave him a chance and used him in a similar way.

the blueprint is run the ball, stop the run, get a lead early, and stay very physical . Get 2 Stafford often.

Not a big difference in run production in that game.
Rams 18 for 57.

Niners 22 for 88

The big difference is 3 field goals vs 2 TDs and a field goal. There was a late game defensive TD from a pick-6 but the Rams had already lost before that TD.

Its about physicality. Rams cant handle it. Stafford gets real shaky when he gets pressure in the middle.
Pick six and let CeeDee run for a 70 yard score.

2 plays were the difference in that game!

Niners have a much better Oline than we do. They also have a much better OC and defense.

The Niners were missing their future Hall of Fame left tackle too.. but I'd certainly have to concede that even without him they're still a little better than ours.. but I don't know that I'd go "much better." They have their own problems.. and they got THEIR starting QB taken out for the season.. Their OC is certainly better but he's been under a lot of fire because he has not had many answers for when a team DOES take away the run from him. But he was working with what was essentially a rookie QB to start the year and now he's back to Garrapolo and his long list of limitations. Still their defense might have more "names" on it.. I don't think I would characterize it as being "much better" than ours. Maybe it IS better overall.. but they got to play the Rams at home on that slick field .. The Cowboys will be playing on the road and I don't think the ocean has as much impact on the field in L.A. as it does in Santa Clara.. though I've never been to the specific area where that stadium is.. I have been the Niners' stadium many times and the moist air off the Bay makes every night game seem like it just rained on the field. L.A. is generally a lot warmer and dryer than the Bay Area. I think those conditions suits the 49ers style of play way more than it did the Rams.. So I fully expect the Rams to give a much better showing this week. I really hope we stop with the rotating left guards though. And I also hope the coaches are smart/brave enough to keep Schultz on the bench if he continues to block as poorly as he did on Sunday. Let the youngsters handle the blocking duties.. They're just better at it. And I don't think they have any trouble running 6 yards and turning around .. which is Schultz's primary route.
