Now you didn't say Dak was below average but since you responded to the challenge of another poster, exactly where in this article does Canty say Dak is below average. I missed it but I didn't read all the tweets.
He said he was over rated.
Personally, I don't want you to leave the site. I don't want you to think I don't like you as a poster and wanted you gone.

The draft is a crapshoot. All of these 1st overall quarterbacks look a mess.

Yep. People think all you need to do is just get a QB with a top 3 pick and you'll have an instant A. Rogers. All they have to do is look at the guy who was playing QB for the Lions today to know that's not how it works.

Later in the game without being touched he fell down . Think that was the drive Turpin gave the offense the ball at the Lions 40 . How Detroit stayed in this game so long as bad as they are is not good . The only time Detroit sees a playoff game is on television . Dallas has to play better ( offense ) to do anything in January .

Let’s get this out of the way first:

1. I’m pro Dak
2. He is better than Rush
3. I’m not suggesting Rush should start over Dak
4. I hope we win a super bowl with Dak.

Having said that it’s time that people started being realistic about our QB situation:

1. Dak starts off horribly slow.
2. Dak killed several drives today that were totally ON DAK.
3. He’s not a top 10 QB.
4. He struggled with the 32nd ranked defense.
5. Something is wrong with Dak in terms of seeing/processing the field.
6. Dak’s accuracy is very suspect. I’d say Dak is in the bottom 1/3 of the league in that category.
7. Dak doesn’t elevate the team. Dak doesn’t elevate the team.
8. The WRs are getting plenty open, Dak just doesn’t see them.
9. If they don’t run Dak 3-4 times per game —Dak is going to have a much harder time winning. He needs that threat to keep defenses more honest.
10. The only way Dak wins a SB is if the team Carrie’s him. He is nothing more than a middling bus driver right now.
11. I would love to see Dak develop and become the next Tom Brady, but I don’t think Dak has the football IQ to get it done.
12. Dak has the physical traits but he doesn’t have the mind to get it done as of right now.
13. I like Dak and I like Zeke as a Cowboys fan, but those two together are a handicap to overcome.

Yep... I'd love to tie that poor showing to "rust" but it's not like that dysfunction and poorly run offense is anything new around here. He will get better but that ceiling isn't far off.

I wasn't the poster that put up the challenge. I would never do that. Just curious if I missed something in the article. FWIW, I think we were on a smaller Cowboys forum at one point so I don't have any issues with you.

Where's yours?
Did you actually watch the game today? Dak threw as many passes that should have been interceptions, but we're dropped.
You must really be scared of Rush, too.
I didn’t ask you about Dak I asked you about Rush. Where was his IQ last week?

Coming into this week the lions were third in the NFL at 28 points per game.

Overreaction.

He was pretty good today. He did well with the tools he has to work with.

I expected the offense around him to be a little more potent, but he's just not as good without Cooper AND Lamb. That said, I think this offense is still trending upward.

You really can't glean a whole lot from this game, as far as I'm concerned, other than Dak has a way better arm than Rush and makes pretty good decisions and doesn't turn it over a whole lot.
The same tools that beat the two super bowl teams and a good divisional rival.

How many passes were not accurate?

His 1st pass of the game...

The deep middle, almost INT was directly on target to Lamb but was undercut by the defender. It was too risky but not inaccurate.

He intentionally overthrew one pass by 5 yards because it was triple coverage and he was just throwing it away as he was getting hit.

Gallup was covered deep left and Dak threw it away.

Dak was going to throw to Hendershot until he saw the defender bear-hug him. He instead threw short to CeeDee because it would have been a risky throw otherwise. He was likely hopeful the refs would call the hold by the defender on Hendershot.

Gallup dropped a ball that was in his hands.

Summary:
1 definitely inaccurate throw.
1 accurate throw that was too risky.
1 debatable throw short of CeeDee.

Yeah but every good QB throws every pass accurately in the NFL…….

Your up 17-6 what 2 mins to go your firing balls into the end zone from what the 5 . I guess . Jimmy Hoffa had a better chance of coming back at that point then the Lions . If it builds confidence in Hendershot a UDFA that’s great . Ok

I think the line and system are holding zeke back. Dak is average. Solid legs when used them. Solid arm strength. Below average accuracy. In my opinion, he doesn’t look better at reading defenses since year 2. He takes sacks that other abd with slower feet wouldn’t take in my opinion. I have nothing against him as a person, I just see an average q b with a hall of fame salary.

Ok and he had his best game of the season last year against TB. So you are going to say his poor performance is really him? He had a bad game like a lot of guys the first week of the season.

He's a Romo with slower release, slower ability to process defenses, and absolutely must have top tier talent around him to succeed (see Zeke 2016, Amari 2018.5 - 2021).

Telling us you're Pro-Dak #1 doesn't not give you a pass for the remaining bull**** that you followed up with. You're just trying to provide yourself with cover. It doesn't work.

Well I'm about to give him a couple of games. As in two. It's been ok for the first game back. Cooper could have done the same today, so he started at backup level. Hopefully the next game he's on QB1 level again.
Against Detroit and Chicago? He’s going to choke big time against Minnesota and they don’t even have a solid defense. Dak is done and the Cowboys need to start looking for his replacement.

I don’t get the expectation here. Coming off a hand injury he had a passer rating of 113 with no interceptions and 77% completion. That’s job done for this game but obviously you’d want to see a bit more moving forward.

I agree with some of the OP’s points, some I don’t. For example, #13 doesn’t sit right with me. We saw what Zeke and Dak can do together in the past. I think Dak + KM is too much to overcome. This should stay a run first offense but boy wonder has a tendency to try and turn Dak into Mahomes.

I don’t have much faith that this formula continues throughout the season, we will soon be seeing 35 pass attempts again. One has to go and Moore is the most logical choice.

Defense wins championships, run an offense accordingly.
