A complete unraveling of the franchise that leads to relocation to St. Louis.

Do you want to root for the St. Louis Cowboys, John?
I mean they have won a title since the boys….maybe this is why JJ moved them back to LA…you may be onto something here butcher.

Actually he was on a 1-year $1.325M deal.
And that’s why you trade him. He was going to walk anyway if they didn’t want to resign him. Even for a 6.5 draft pick, if he can shore up the run defense, he’s worth the one year rental whether we resign him or not. It’s clear Jerry thinks he has something special this year, so he’s solidifying the defense. Now he needs to find an OG.

Now maybe everyone can agree our DTs weren't good enough.
Yeah I wasn't buying the whole preseason "DT by committee". I expected Watkins to make the 53 roster because he was the only one from the entire group that had actually legitimately played a full season at an NFL level.

Not really surprised that not only is Watkins on the 53 but they signed another veteran. DT isn't really a position you want to experiment with (being weak in the middle puts alot of extra strain on the rest of your defense especially the linebacker group)

Yeah I remember saying three or four years ago that the cost savings of cutting Crawford could get you Hankins and Shelton.

Of course upgrading both DT spots for no extra cap wasn't on the table for them

Trouble was that Marinelli would never go for it. Crawford was his idea of a NT....and he wondered why we sucked on defence.

We like being certain we are bad at something. No need to have a knee jerk reaction to being bad at something. We like assessing a situation for a few years and then appointing a committee to sort it out over some Johnny Walker Blue. Seems like it is going pretty well.

The trade for Hankins is a response to Romo needing a better defense. I know we are getting to it a bit late, but at least Dak can benefit from it. Keep in mind if we had waiting a few more years to pick up Hankins out of retirement we would still have that 6th round pick.
Is Romo back?

Cant believe we actually beat Danny Snyder to the punch with this signing.
If we cut him tomorrow, I bet they release Ridgeway to sign him.
We get our 5th round prospect back.

I do understand your point however if we can have a better QB our chances will increase even more...I know that will never happened since it might hurt Dak feeling

It's not going to happen because teams have proven they can win with quarterbacks like Dak. I'm all for improving any position, but the likelihood that we could improve the QB position through a trade or acquisition is pretty much nonexistent. If we want to get better there, it would likely take some draft capital, and even then you are not guaranteed ... look at the QBs drafted in the first the year that Dak was drafted.

The realistic focus is trying to take this defense to the next level. I'd look for trades that can tweak the offense, too, but I really doubt that the Joneses will do that. Frankly, I'm surprised that they are doing this one, although it fits their low-cost MO. Some of those have turned out OK, and some poorly. We'll see how it goes with Hankins. At least we're not asking him to be a world beater, just a piece of the puzzle.
