The question is will KM keep with this game plan? We have seen this before(dominating performance) then slowly get away from it.

Dak plays phenomenal when he isn't the center focus on offense. Has been thus way since day 1.

I think he was the center focus yesterday. He just wasn't being asked to be the main weapon. The offense still ran through him.

His post and mine are not about the money. They're just about the fact that Dak is our QB for the foreseeable future, so we need to call plays that work to his strengths, regardless of whether he or Kellen would prefer to sling the ball around. I don't care if he's getting paid 20,000 a year. If he's the franchise QB, they need to use him properly, like they did yesterday.

Then why mention money?

I agree they have found the key to success if they can reproduce it in each game. But the money is meaningless at this point. The continued harping on money just detracts from any salient point you are trying to make.

And there are options next year to perhaps keep both running backs and this offense together if it succeeds.

But all this is next year. Right now this team is in the hunt for the play-offs, and then it is win three and enjoy the trophy. How silly does money look when you shine that light on it? Fans are all about next year. You are not promised ten minutes from now. Enjoy today.

Inaccurate. They have to spend it.

That is inaccurate. They have a floor on spending. But they also have cash on hand and have not spent it. Generalizing the floor does not mean they are not hoarding money.

That's true too. Each team has a maximum and minimum cap.
I quite often see people saying crapp just because it's the popular saying.

Before the last few years, Jerry was out of control w/ the salary cap, constantly pushing money down the road. It's only been recently that we've been better w/ it. Taking some room from this year and rolling it over to next year was a brilliant move. I don't really remember any FA that would've made a significant difference.

No, it's not. That amount is rolled over into next season, and must be spent. It has nothing to do w/ the money itself, and everything to do w/ the salary cap room and managing that cap.

:hammer:
Dak is a complementary quarterback. He is a chameleon. When the Cowboys are great, he's great. When they struggle, he struggles.
When he has to be the reason they are great, it doesn't happen.

Ah....EXCEPT

How does salary cap rollover work?

One way that teams can increase their Salary Cap space is by carrying over any unused Cap space from the prior year. Teams must notify the league of the amount they wish to carry over from one year to the next by 4:00 p.m. on the day following the team's final regular season game.

Except, that bubble screen has not worked for any yardage since the Buccaneers game in 2021. And that was the first play of the game.

I understand playing a tight game and not risking. But Dallas cedes third downs by using this play, which bears no fruit.

I have watched other teams use this play. But they will run tight ends out in front of the receiver to get an open running lane.

I am not a savant when it comes to offensive play calling. And I understand you have to show some things so when your real intent comes later is a play that looks similar, but is not, is required.

But I can almost call out that play before the snap. And if a fat man in a recliner can see it, the defender is looking for it.

Just my opinion.
This!! That play needs to be ripped from the book!!

And I'm sure there's significant penalties for not meeting the salary min.

Great OP Mountain. Keep it Simple Stupid or KISS for the offense. Lean on the run game.
Do NOT go pass happy.
And then the whole TOP and run game philosophy is key for the defense to be at its best. Because it is rested and not going straight back out on the field after failed pass happy 3 and outs.

My only concern is game to game consistency and whether this was a perfect storm game for this team.
Meaning will they continue to play the way they did with Rush but with Dak now at QB? Or go back to 40 to 50 passing attempts?

AND...Was Minnesota just totally due a loss based off the prior week's miracle in Buffalo and Dallas's meltdown in Lambeau?
Seemed like everything lined up perfectly for this win.

Regardless of everything, I hope this is the new norm as well.

I would add that McCarthy deserves credit for having the team fired up and ready. Can't know for sure, but some of the different things we saw on offense may be attributable to his influence.

Lamb showed some toughness yesterday. He was getting roughed up pretty good at times. He moved up a notch on my scale.

First and foremost, Kellen Moore called a wonderful game and had a great game plan Sunday.

I cannot stress enough how well Dak played. He played the way a lot of us here have begged him to play. He played within his limits and did not try and do too much. He took what the defense gave him and took shots when they presented themselves instead of trying to force them to materialize. This is the version of Dak that, if we get each week, would be our best path to success.

The running game was the main focus as it should have been and should continue to be going forward. Zeke played well on his limited carries while Pollard showed that he can still be RB1. Pollard is the best playmaker we have on offense and I don't believe it's all that close. We need to do whatever it takes to get the ball into his hands 15+ times a game. He just makes plays.

The WRs also played great. They caught the ball when given the opportunity, fought for the extra yards, and didn't make Dak fit it into any tight windows. They did a good job getting open and beating their man.

The O-Line continues to be very underrated. They did great in all aspects today. The run blocking is still great and the pass blocking gave Dak plenty of time to get the ball out. We don't talk enough about how well the line has been playing when a lot of us thought for sure they would be a weaker link and they have proven not to be.

This was the blueprint for how the offense needs to be ran week in and week out. We focus mainly on the run game and Dak takes what the defense gives him. I believe that playing this way is our path to success on the offensive side of things.

Just a thought…..today on ESPN, Orlovski went into great detail and film evidence, that this wasn’t just a great game by Dak. His point was that last year, the Cowboys allowed Dak to control the game at the line of scrimmage, getting there early enough to read the defense and get us into better plays. According to Dan, yesterday was the first game he’d seen that this year. My thought, maybe because we had a formula that worked for Rush, we continued to a fault with Dak. Yesterday, we got to the line early, allowing Dak time to look, even taking information from what his teammates were seeing, and he was getting us into the perfect plays.

Example was the long TD pass to Pollard. Schultz and Dak see the defense showing a 4 deep zone, but because we had trips to the left, the safety came down and talked to the LB who moved over towards Pollard, letting Schultz and Dak know that the safety was going to push a little towards the trips, leaving the LB on Pollard, the CB on Schultz. Dak goes over to the trips and talks to them, making sure they run the now 3 deep offto the left with no 9ne coming over the middle. Schultz now runs deep to take the CB out. Dak takes the snap and looks at the guys running off left…..1-2-3, he comes back to Pollard, after changing his route from up and out to up, out, and back up. Perfect pass….TD.

Orlovski gave other examples of Dak controlling and calling the game from the line of scrimmage, sometimes getting us into a great run play. Now, I’m not saying it didn’t make sense to leave Moore in control with Dak returning to a formula that worked after injury. But Dan had good evidence that this was the first game where they were getting up to the line fast and letting Dak control the game.

No one is suggesting not meeting the salary minimum. The fact teams CAN roll over money means they are not spending 100% of their funds for player payroll. Your position at the beginning of this kerfuffle was a hard line they can't save money. I posted the actual reply to that which shows they can roll over money. Any further discussion from you flies in the face of Say it ain't so, Joe.

They can save money and roll it over. How much? I don't believe in any of my discussions I said how much at all. But some money is still money. And the Jones' are all about the money. Hence, they never really bring in anyone of note on a Free Agent contract.

Put Von Miller in the ranks of this defensive front and there would have been talking heads mentioning the '85 Bears. But that requires Jethro and Little Anus to get off the dime. Which was my point. The ear-splitting shrill of money talk ignores the basic component required for money to be a detriment to getting the services of A-line players in Free Agency.

Jerry and Stephen Jones shop at Goodwill. So the salary point is moot.

You’ve been saying Dak sucks all year. You ain’t getting off the hook this easy. The next incomplete pass you’ll be saying he sucks again.

You're the only one who mentioned money. He and I only mentioned the fact that his contract has him here as our QB for the foreseeable future.

Whatever they did is what they need to continue to do.

I don't expect this every week. That's unrealistic. But they should never look incompetent out there.
