Loki Narrates the (Very) Brief First Look at Season 2 of the Marvel Series

Time to light up your excitement for Loki season two.

In 2023, Marvel is going full multiverse. There’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and The Marvels to start, but don’t forget the show that started it all. That’s Loki and it too will be back in 2023.

Disney+ released a short commercial teasing its 2023 plans and not only is it narrated by Loki himself, Tom Hiddelston, but we also get a whopping four seconds of footage from the new season. Which seems short but isn’t when you realize shows like Star Wars: Ahsoka, The Mandalorian season three, Pixar’s Win or Lose, and Marvel’s Secret Invasion get maybe that combined. Check it out.

With the release of 2008's "Iron Man," Marvel fans got a little something special if they stuck around after the end credits.

Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum Is Open to Playing the DCU's Lex Luthor

Smallville star Michael Rosenbaum has revealed that he would be open to reprising the role of Lex Luthor in a future DC Universe film.

The actor recently responded to a fan on Twitter who asked if he would be willing to shave his head again to return as Lex Luthor for James Gunn's revamped DCU. "for james i’d do anything," Rosenbaum replied, ending his tweet with a smiley face. The actor, who is friends with Gunn in real life, previously portrayed the Superman nemesis through the first seven seasons of Smallville. He left the show after that but returned for the two-hour series finale.

While Rosenbaum played Lex in Smallville, the character was previously portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg in the shared universe formerly known as the DC Extended Universe. Eisenberg first appeared as Lex Luthor in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with the character depicted as an eccentric young businessman and CEO of LexCorp who is obsessed with defeating Henry Cavill's Superman. Following the 2016 film, the actor reprised the role for a brief cameo in a post-credits scene for 2017's Justice League, which showed Luthor attempting to form a supervillain team of his own to combat the Justice League. With Cavill now out as Superman, it is unlikely Eisenberg will be brought back for Gunn's new DCU -- despite having previously expressed interest in returning for future projects as Luthor -- leaving the door open for Rosenbaum's return.

Despite claims the Hulk's claims that he's "the strongest there is," numerous comics have shown the character bested in combat by opponents. He might boast dense skin, unlimited rage, and an impressive healing factor, but the Hulk is no match for characters such as Zeus.

Given that the Hulk is not the strongest being in the Marvel universe, it stands that he could theoretically be beaten by several DC characters. Not all of them can match the Hulk's baseline physical strength and endurance, but what they lack in physicality, DC's most powerful characters make up for with various abilities such as super speed, telekinesis, and matter manipulation.

Zeus is a character that both comics have. He was in DC in 1944 and Marvel in 1949. Thor also appeared in DC 5 years prior to Marvel. Jack Kirby brought Thor to both comic companies.

Gunn probably doesn't yet know the answers to many of the questions being asked. It is still very early in the process with much left to be determined. Also, even if he had some answers, he doesn't want to give away too much. Some comic success is holding back on information to build up suspense. They are busy talking to everyone currently involved and who potentially be involved. There won't be many definitive answers for a while. He may not be the right guy, but whomever was chosen for the role would and should have the final say of who stays and who goes.

Today marks the end of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, and the fallout has drastically changed the DC villain Deathstroke. The infinite Earths in the multiverse are finally restored, and the Great Darkness has been pushed back – at least for now. Deathstroke has played a vital role in the lead-up to Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, as well as the main event itself, as a puppet in Pariah's grand schemes. Deathstroke assembled an army of villains powered by the Great Darkness, beating down the young generation of heroes who stepped in to replace the Justice League. Dark Crisis #7 features a final fight between Deathstroke's army, the Legion of Doom, and the revived Justice League that makes a lasting change to Slade Wilson.

DC Comics has always leaned towards optimism in its main offerings. That’s not to say they can’t get dark, as movies like The Batman can attest to. Still, there’s always an undeniable sense of hope and general kindness that’s much easier to find in DC than it is in Marvel.

It’s telling that in the official JLA x Avengers crossover comic, Spider-Man was much more beloved since people in DC were more inclined to believe in heroes. This extends to their villains as well, be they reformed sidekicks like Harley or sovereign leaders like Black Adam.

5 Marvel Characters Alba Baptista Would Be Perfect To Play

Not long after fans feared its recently released second season might be its last, Warrior Nun joined the long list of shows cancelled by Netflix when the streaming platform officially announced it was pulling the plug on December 13, 2022. While it is possible that the fantasy-action series — which executive producer Simon Barry adapted from Ben Dunn’s manga-style comic book — could find a new home elsewhere, the news is still disheartening, especially because Alba Baptista gives such a strong performance as the lead, demon-hunting hero, Ava Silva. However, we should not fret because there are so many other characters she could get into the habit of playing in any upcoming Marvel movies, potentially.

Now, to be clear, I am not basing my belief that the Portuguese actor has a shot at starring in any upcoming superhero movies (or TV shows) of the Marvel persuasion on her rumored romance with former Captain America actor, Chris Evans. Watching her in action on Warrior Nun will provide one with more than enough evidence to prove why the Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris star would be a dynamite addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, her role on the show gave a me a few ideas for what Marvel characters from the comics she might be the perfect candidate to bring to life on the big screen (or on Disney+ on a new Marvel TV show), including a few that share the same profession.

Avatar: The Way of Water is not a one-weekend wonder

After a 13-year wait, James Cameron’s second Avatar movie finally hit the screens on Dec. 16.

In its opening weekend, Avatar: The Way of Water amassed $435 million at the global box office, making it the second-biggest opening of 2022, after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which clocked $442 million in box office earnings.

The sci-fi epic film, which needs to make at least $2 billion to break even, isn’t relying on a flying start à la Marvel’s superhero movies. Typically, director James Cameron’s movies hold on to solid audience turnout for weeks–many of them repeat viewers. Ask him when people should take a bathroom break during the 192 minutes-long movie, and he confidently says: “Any time they want. They can see the scene they missed when they come to see it again.”

The real success of the Disney-produced film won’t reveal itself on the first weekend—in Cameron’s own words, “Titanic didn’t work that way. Avatar didn’t work that way”—but closer to the third weekend. Coupling the holiday season with rave reviews on social media eclipsing critics’ more lukewarm takes, the future looks promising for the film.

James Cameron turned me off a bit when he felt the need to come out and attack Marvel. At this point, his Avatar films are spectacular special effects and little more. I don’t see where he has the right to criticize what anyone else is doing. Jealous of their success I guess.

I really hope they can reunite the brothers, Loki and Thor, even if technically brothers from different universes before Hemsworth takes his leave of absence from acting.


Rewatching Guardians of the Galaxy and I wish James Gunn did Thor Love and Thunder. He has a better way of having comedy but also heartbreaking moments and giving the right balance between the two.
