As of this week, the 49ers could secure the #1 seed in the final week of the season with a win over the lowly Cardinals and a loss by the Eagles. But as good as everyone seems to believe their defense is, and as surprising as rookie QB Brock Purdy has been, have the 49ers actually been tested this season?

In their only game against another top NFL team, they got blown out by 21 points against the Chiefs, who beat them 44-23. In their other game against a winning team, they beat wildcard playoff team the LA Chargers by a mere 6 points, 22-16, while playing at home.

With a 1-1 record against winning teams, and a -15 point differential in those two games, is it really wise to be scared of playing the 49ers?

If the other playoff contenders, the Cowboys have beaten the Eagles, Stomped the Vikings and Lions, and beaten the Giants twice. Yes, they lost to Rodgers and Brady, but the first game of the season was a long time ago, and they were cruising on offense against the Packers before a late game collapse by the defense.

The Cowboys’ Head Coach is correct. The Cowboys are nobody’s underdog. This doesn’t mean they’ll win, but the team and the fans don’t need to apologize or be afraid of any of the NFC playoff contenders.

We've played more, for sure.

Fwiw, I see 3
Chiefs
Chargers
Bucs

and also played Miami before they lost Tua..when they were 8-4

So 3 or 4 teams, however you choose to look at it.

Funny how NFCW went from best to bad division and the NFCE worst to best in one season.
They had 3 playoffs teams in that division last year just like the NFCE has 3 this year.
Rams got decimated right from the start.
I think I saw they have played 14 offensive linemen this year....plus Cooper Kupp and Stafford...plus they lost Von Miller and OBJ from last year.
A shell of themselves. Ugly stuff

Seattle has been better than expected. I'd say they are about like the Giants

NFCE better for sure

They’ve played 4 games against teams that are currently 8-8, Bucs, Dolphins and twice against the Seahawks.

In addition to the 6 winning teams the Cowboys have played, winning 5 of the 6, the Cowboys have also played 4 games against teams with 8-8 records: the Jags, Bucs, Lions and Packers.

They haven’t played gb - they being SF..they haven’t played the lions either. What exactly are you looking at?

No take them lightly, Jethro.

You can only play who is on the schedule, this is not the NCAA where you can pick some early games to be tune-ups before you get into the meat of the schedule. Strength of Schedule is not even a thing in the NFL since majority of your games are are the exact same based on a 3-4 year rotation.

their schedule is cupcake. just look at it. chargers are the best team they have played in the last 9 or so weeks. by far the best team.

I'm surprised that sos isn't behind head to head in tie breaking rules.... It should be above division and conference records

The 49ers fight song should be "YMCA." :muttley:And these guys should be their mascot.

Seahawks and Bucs are both 8-8 and can end up with winning records next week (they beat Seattle twice) so kind of a misleading stat that is just looking at this very moment. Also what were the records of the teams when they faced them. Some could have had winning records, even 1-0 would have been a winning record.

Edit: Miami is also 8-8 and can end up 9-8. They might have caught some injury breaks as well though, Not sure if Tua played against them and not sure if Kyler Murray was healthy against them last time, I know they face the Cardinals next week and it'll be no Kyler Murray.

The 49ers show up every week with consistency.
They did stomp the BUCS 35 to 7. A team Dallas has lost to the last two times they have played.
They dominated Dallas last year in the playoffs game and Brock Purdy put up 23 points against the Chiefs and sure appears to be an upgrade over Jimmy G. Dak put up 9 points against the Chiefs last year. There are plenty of good reasons why Dallas should be the underdog in a 49ers matchup. Dallas needs to build momentum and confidence to have a chance to beat the 49ers. And a win against the BUCS and Eagles would help a lot.

..... are you serious? You are aware that we need to play-off the run and the 49ers happen to have the best run defense in the NFL. On offense they happen to run the ball pretty well (check out their yards since trading for McCaffrey).

Add the Jimmie Ward comment following their victory in the play-off last year about how they worked out a scheme to beat us and I cant find a team in the NFC that we fear more than the 48er's.

I never put much stock in that garbage even when it was fashionable to use that excuse for the nfc east
This is a week to week league and you have to bring it weekly those wins count in the standings as well
