SF now has the easiest schedule in the league this season. Dallas is 8th hardest. Same record.
As of this week, the 49ers could secure the #1 seed in the final week of the season with a win over the lowly Cardinals and a loss by the Eagles. But as good as everyone seems to believe their defense is, and as surprising as rookie QB Brock Purdy has been, have the 49ers actually been tested this season?
In their only game against another top NFL team, they got blown out by 21 points against the Chiefs, who beat them 44-23. In their other game against a winning team, they beat wildcard playoff team the LA Chargers by a mere 6 points, 22-16, while playing at home.
With a 1-1 record against winning teams, and a -15 point differential in those two games, is it really wise to be scared of playing the 49ers?
I think people mentally checked out when the score was 13-0 before Dallas scored. Interesting enough, the teams played two more quarters and Dallas out scored the Niners 17-10 the rest of the way. You could argue the Cowboys were one play away from winning the game outright and you wouldn’t sound crazy either.WOW you call a six point victory, with Dallas running out of time a curb stomping? You guys and your revisionist history.
And Jeff Davis freed the slaves I guess
They are doing this with patchwork at QB. Their starter went down early. They went to last year's QB who they deemed not good enough to start this year. Then they lost him and went with Mr. Irrelevant and they continue to play the way they have.
They only beat 3 or 4 teams with winning records last year so not a whole lot different than this year. And they still came in and beat us.
This is why we should "fear" (whatever that means) the 49ers. They are everything we are not. They can exploit our vulnerabilities. They typically play smart, whereas we can tend to play dumb. They can run the ball, we aren't the best at stopping the run. They can stop the run, which many here will claim we need to do to make Dak and the passing offense way more efficient. They can rush the passer. They are typically very physical on both sides of the ball, that at times, gives us problems.
Can we beat them? Absolutely. But in reality, they are just a bad matchup for us.
If the other playoff contenders, the Cowboys have beaten the Eagles, Stomped the Vikings and Lions, and beaten the Giants twice. Yes, they lost to Rodgers and Brady, but the first game of the season was a long time ago, and they were cruising on offense against the Packers before a late game collapse by the defense.
The Cowboys’ Head Coach is correct. The Cowboys are nobody’s underdog. This doesn’t mean they’ll win, but the team and the fans don’t need to apologize or be afraid of any of the NFC playoff contenders.
I’d argue that the Niners passing game isn’t “way more efficient”. It’s hard to be more efficient than the Cowboys offense with Dak this year.
When the Niners played capable offenses this year in the Chiefs and Raiders games, they gave up points. They shut down the Chargers though.
This game is all about matchups, always has been. When these two teams play each other again, matchups will be exploited. The best team will win. I believe that team is the Cowboys this year. Dallas is battle tested and tough.
Cowboys were the better team last year too.
How'd that work out? The 49ers might not be "better" than us this year (that's debatable), but they are most definitely a tough matchup for us. Frankly, I think I'd rather face Philly in Philly before I'd have to play San Fran in San Fran.
Ok but when you have that front 7 mccafrey and 15 on O they are deadly!!As of this week, the 49ers could secure the #1 seed in the final week of the season with a win over the lowly Cardinals and a loss by the Eagles. This type of question is only asked when it comes to the Cowboys. Every other team plays the hardest schedule in the league. As of this week, the 49ers could secure the #1 seed in the final week of the season with a win over the lowly Cardinals and a loss by the Eagles. W/ our inability to stop the run, is it really wise to not be afraid of playing the 49ers?As of this week, the 49ers could secure the #1 seed in the final week of the season with a win over the lowly Cardinals and a loss by the Eagles. TrueI tend to think SF is a quality team and a legit contender. I for one hope we get the opportunity to face off with them in post season. To be the best you must be willing to play the best
I remember a similar brain dead post last year before the 49ers curb stomped us.
