That's the end of this story.

I will say, the term warrant should not even apply. It should be termed citation rather than warrant, which seems like a lame attempt somewhere along the line for this to a media hit-job type of distraction to throw the Cowboys' history of other players in their face to distract them, or perhaps motivate them somehow.

I don't know. But it's not that big a deal.

No this doens't appear to be some creation for a media hit job. It appears to be the actual legal process. If you are issued a ticket well after a traffic violation, in this case reckless driving, the process for serving the person the ticket is a misdemeanor warrant.

Doubt it. The original report says the accident involved his corvette and an Infiniti SUV. Not sure how many Infiniti SUV drivers drag race or how many souped up Infiniti SUVs there are out there. LOL.

This isnt complicated. First off, the other driver was 71 years old... he wasnt racing a brand new Cirvette. The entire side of the Corvette is destroyed and the front of the other car was destroyed. It stated the 71 year old pulled in front of Williams and I was struggling with how that was possible after seeing the cars...but now that what I suspected has shown to be true it makes sense.

Old guy tries to turn, has plenty of room for a car going speed limit, williams is flying, as he gets ready to impact the old guy, he swerves and his entire car is now sideways when he plowed into the old guy.


If we were to go back to the original thread on this subject, I said it then, we will find out Williams was speeding in his brand new toy.

This is an arrestable offense. He will go to jail. It will probably be be a “book-in /bond-out kind of thing, but he will be taken to jail.

He will not go to jail, he will not be booked, he will not have to post bail, not for a traffic ticket. Reckless driving is a misdemeanor driving offense.

It's only a traffic ticket, there is no arrest, there is no booking into jail, there is no posting bail. That's BS by people who don't know what they are talking about.

Reckless driving is a misdemeanor offense but can still carry a jail sentence of 30 days. I don't know if he will be going to jail, but yes, technically one could go to jail for a misdemeanor reckless driving offense.

Under California Vehicle Code 23103, reckless driving is a misdemeanor charge carrying imprisonment for five to 90 days, a fine of $145 to $1,000, or both.


and here you are, trying to tell a 20 year prosecutor from the state of Texas how things work. Im just curious, where did you attend law school?

so th eold guy driving an SUV is gonna try and race with a new Corvette? Now add in the fact the 2 cars were going in opposite directions? IM not thinking they were racing.

And yes, I grew up going to races. My best friends step dad was still racing Midgets a few years ago in his 70s. It never gets out of their system.

Yes but that's only the possible sentence once adjudicated. He will not go to jail unless they decide it rates a felony charge, which they obviously haven't. He'll meet the cops, sign the ticket then pay the fine, that is all. Being booked into jail and having to post bind isn't going to happen and it's preposterous anyone thinks that's what will happen.

You need to read what you wrote again because that is a possible punishment, not what will happen before then. They will not arrest him, they will not book him, he will not have to post bond, that person is NOT a prosecutor if they think that's what will happen.

That seems like an unfair advantage. He should race people his own size. Although I hear Peter Dinklage can run a 4.7.

How could he have "taken care of business before he was issued a ticket? They just now issued the ticket. This is not to arrest him, it is to notify him he is being charged with reckless driving, which is a misdemeanor, and he needs to meet with police to receive the citation.

If he had been issued a ticket and not paid it, or not "taken care of his business", it would be and outstanding warrant, not a misdemeanor warrant.

My comment was half humor and half to make the point that young men and fast cars have been doing dumb stuff since the days of flatheads and push rods.

I would love to see the tally of people on this forum who have driven 30 or 40 over the speed limit a time or two, but didn't get caught.

I'd be very surprised if does not well exceed the 10% you're suggesting.

I'm sure most all of us have sped like that on a freeway or open road.

Reckless driving is a traffic offense, a misdemeanor, it's under the Transportation Code. It's a traffic ticket.

Look at the punishment range. There are a lot of criminal offenses that are in codes other than the Penal Code.
