the other car was totaled. So you think going slightly over 45 is the reason he has been charged with reckless driving????? lol
Does it matter? It happened because he was speeding. Thank God everyone was OK. Sam Williams learned a hard lesson. No need for you to act like a drama queen.

A warrant has been issued which means he will be arrested, placed in cuffs, and held pending an arranignment, which I assume will include setting a bond. Then he will pay the bond and he will be released pending a court date. What's the matter with Texas? You don't do summonses on misdemeanors? It's not like he is a flight risk or something.
Sounds like the Frisco Police have to act like drama queens like some in here do.

its amazing to me that you can possibly have an ounce of criticism for police who have sighted a young immature person that was damn lucky he didnt kill someone. And trust me, I can promise you that you likely no not a single person that is more critical of police than I am.

No bigger supporter of all first responders and our law enforcers. I got disabled putting my life on the line of duty, so I've earned the right to voice my opinion when I see an abuse (which I rarely ever do). They know where Sam Williams works and lives. They could have easily served him papers there instead of going to such unecessary extremes.

It sounds like he just needs to take care of his traffic ticket. He's young and inexperienced with life. This is minor, click bait bs. Sam will handle it and the story goes away.
It was the story of my life when I was his age lol

I post this without having read all 7 pages of comments, so if this is repetitive, I apologize. A few legal and technical facts:
Reckless Driving in Texas is NOT a citation only offense, it is a Transportation Code criminal offense. Punishment is 0-30 days in jail AND/OR a fine range to up to $200. What his punishment will be is up to the prosecutor and I’ve the judge or jury. (If he caused an accident while driving 30 miles an hour above the speed limit, I doubt he can pay $200 and walk away.)

Secondly, as far as the comments about “no radar-no proof” go, that is nonsense. ALL newer cars and trucks are required to have “black boxes” that record driving behaviors. When there is a collision, it can be downloaded to show how fast the car was going at impact, how fast it had been going prior to braking, whenti the brakes were applied and when or if the tires lost trac

They knew exactly how fast Henry Ruggs was driving in the fatal Las Vegas crash last year via the black box. He was also driving a Corvette.

Are we the only team that lets these guys have free rein during bye weeks? Why can’t we just continue and get extra practice in.

We are the only team that comes back from bye weeks unfocused at best, with arrests at worst.

Hopefully, this incident won't disallow Williams to participate in the postseason game Monday night. Aside from that, he'll have to make restitutions. Realistically, he's lucky to be alive after such a mishap. Maybe it'll serve as a lesson to drive sanely, instead of like a fool.

Great talent cannot overcome stupid. I just that's not the case with Sam. If he can stay out of his own way, he looks to have a big future in the NFL.

Isn't this the normal process? From what I can gather, the court here is following the normal process for serving a reckless driving citation after more information has been discovered. Just because he's a Cowboy doesn't mean he should get special treatment. If the process for serving a new reckless driving citation well after the accident took place is what we see here, then what's the issue?

This board has a lot of good posters, one has to be a Texas attorney who can explain to us how the process works in a situation where after a few days of investigation, the police have concluded one person was reckless and will now receive a citation for it.

Plus not to mention if he is not on radar it’s an east ticket to contest which I would if I was him.
You should stop talking about this. First you claimed it was a rural road and it was not. Second, as someone noted, today's cars capture data. For example, the airbag system collects data as to the speed at impact that deployed the air bag. That's how the police were able to determine how fast Henry Ruggs was going despite him not having been caught on radar.

If there is no plan to "find and arrest” Sam Williams at this time by the Plano PD, why issue an arrest warrant?

The fact that you think you have "earned the right," is the problem with police. I served in the military but I never put myself above any other person. Im a citizen, you are a citizen.... we both have the right to be critical of injustice.

I served in the military as well. You are correct though. All citizens have the right to be critical of injustice, so why are you being a hypocrite and questioning my right to question law enforcement?
