Sean Payton says that if he takes a head-coaching job, the team that hires him will have to give the Saints a mid-to-late first-round draft pick.

Payton told Colin Cowherd he and Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis have come to an understanding that that’s what his new team will give the Saints, if Payton takes a head-coaching job.

What if no one offers that much?

They going to try to tell him he can’t work? If they were paying him it would be different.

A 1st round pick for a head coach no more successful than the one we already got?

Looking backward, yeah their records are similar, but when it comes time to find the next QB, I’d rather it be Payton than Mike that leads that effort.

Still I’m not giving up a first for him, but I don’t think that’ll end up being the cost.

If no one is offering that, they can’t not pay him, not offer to bring him back, and prevent him from working elsewhere because they want compensation above and beyond his value.

Maybe Quinn knows something? Maybe he sees the writing on the wall and knows Denver is his best shot to get out of here and get another head coaching gig before this staff ultimately gets fired anyway?

Wishful thinking on your part I think Stash lol. I would love for Moore to be gone but I just dont see Jerry doing it.

Now. Jerry and Payton are very close so there is that as well. However I think this hire would be Stephens to make.

IDK maybe you're right on this one, but many previous coaching trades have included 1st round picks and more. The compensation while I wouldnt want to pay that price seems reasonable based on history.

He's under contract so they don't have to pay him, and have him locked up for I believe another two seasons? NO holds all the cards unless Payton wants to go back to NO. I wouldn't just let the guy walk for free either if I were New Orleans.
