NFL starting QBs are paid 'QB big money' ---- regardless that they are 'worth big money'.
....it's called "big money" or "market value".....or "we ain't got nobody else"

3 of the 4 QB's in the championship games are on their rookie deals. Burrow 3rd year, Hurts 2nd year and Purdy 1st yr. In todays NFL maybe it just doesn't make sense to pay the big number and makes more sense to take a QB every year at some point in the draft just to always be churning the QB roster. In todays NFL you need to spread the money around. Thoughts?
OMG, flavor of this year, look at all those QBs with rookie contracts... last year it was trade everything and get all the FAs and build a team that way, look at the Rams..

so does this mean, does it make sense for all these QBs not to get a new contract when they are up? so you wouldn't resign Burrow? or Hurts? or Herbert? let the QBs walk after first contract?

and then there is a longer list of QBs who are on their rookie contract and didn't make it. hmmm

LOL not the reply i would expect from a Cowboys fan ….
Why?

We have our own problems to worry about.

Why are you worried about what some other team does or doesn't do?

Why do focus on the speck that is in your brother's eye, when you have a plank in your own eye?

Hurts is better than Dak with the offense Philly runs, just like Justine Fields is better than Dak on that same offense. Hurts would not be good at all on an offense like the Cowboys have. Two totally different systems. Dak is not a serious threat to run, so he wouldn't work on Philly.
Well, then I guess Mohomes is better with offense in KC than Dak would be, and wouldn't be as good in an offense like the Cowboys have.

Maybe that's the problem.

Maybe NOBODY would be as good as they are with an offense like Dallas has. That's just a fancy way of saying our offense sucks!

The offense Philly runs is totally different. It's similar to the 2019 Ravens offense. You can't just take Jalen Hurts and put him on the Packers and expect him to do well. They tried the traditional offense with Hurts in the first half of last year. He sucks. The Eagles entire offense is run heavy utilizing the QB. Pass when the defense cheats up for the run. That's what the 2019 Ravens did. Just because it's successful doesn't mean the QB is great. The players they have now to run that system is ideal.

How many SBs did the Patriots win during Brady‘s 2nd, 3rd and 4th contracts (not doing the research but it has to be around 3-4)? Mahomes isn’t on a rookie deal and may win it all this year. Josh Allen isn’t on a rookie deal and he is on a damn good team. There has been many QBs who have won SBs after their rookie deals.

You’re insinuating like it’s easy to find a SB caliber QB in the draft. It’s really not.
Don't even bother bringing up Brady. We can all agree he is an anomaly in NFL history and you can't really compare anyone to him.

Josh Allen needed Tommy John surgery from week 9 on and simply toughed it out. He is a great QB and Buffalo will be in the super bowl mix every year while he is around. Same for Mahomes and it will be the same for Burrow when he signs his second contract. Heck, Matt Stafford just proved last year that you can win with an expensive veteran QB if he's good enough.

BUT, having a great QB isn't the only path to a super bowl. Both SF and Philly are winning with defense and QBs on rookie contracts.

What you can"t have is a QB that can't perform under pressure and makes lots of mistakes. That doesn't win in any era.

Burrow/Mahomes is already and will be for years to come the new Brady/Manning. Maybe the Bills could break through at some point but I don't see many teams challenging the Chiefs or Bengals.

In NFC it's hard to know if Eagles will be a one year wonder or not. If Purdy plays well the 49ers will be right there.

Pretty much the best teams made it, Bills were #2 seed but everything else was chalk. #1 vs #2 in NFC and #1 vs #3 in AFC.

As constructed I do not see us being in an NFC Championship game must less a Super Bowl. It's rare that wild card teams who don't win their division can win two road games against good teams, and 3 is even more difficult. Maybe we could win the division next year if Eagles fall back some but just being a wild card team doesn't usually cut it except for a few examples in history that won a Super Bowl.
