Pretty sure there are 2 void years built into the deal.
There are (because of the restructure last year) and I am sure they will add another one if they restructure it again. Void years have kind of become the latest trend that NFL GMs use to delay cap hits.

Is laughable for fans to call a player selfish because their team chose to sign them to a huge contract. No team has the cave to a players demands. There’s nothing selfish about a player getting as much money as they can because an NFL career is short. The NFL is a cutthroat business and you have to cash in while you can.

His selfish team restricting 4 year contract is a major reason this team was hamstrung in the cap.

Prescott refused to give more years in the last contract so the team could at least absorb and keep players and weapons to get you passed the divisional round.

He did this so he could get a second bite at the Apple. Bravo Dak. Thanks!

Would Amari Cooper been around still? Would they have gone after other free agents?

Be a man Dak! You could not get to the Super Bowl with your arm and interceptions.

Sign a 7 year extension give the team some room to help you because you need it.
How about a home town discount to boot?

Maybe he should sign for the league minimum.

Amazing how many people are so eager to tell others to take a pay cut when there is a less than zero chance they will would do the same.

There is nothing selfish about Dak's contract. He did what is best for Dak as almost every player in the league does. They simply get what they can from willing owners. As others have stated, Jerry did not have to sign the deal.

I will say this, the overlooked aspect of Dak's contract is not the money, it is the term. 4 years is the killer because it allows Dak to ask more more in 2025. And, he will get it too! If Dak took $40 million for 8 years I would be a lot let critical of the deal. It was a total cave in by Jerry. The money, the term, the no trade clause, the no franchise tag clause, were all wins for Dak. Jerry lost on every point. The only positive, and it is barely positive, is the agreement to 2 voided year to allow Jerry to spread Dak bloated bonus money out and reduce hi cap. But that is not in any way a negative for Dak.
Doing what is best for yourself w/o regards to others is the very definition of selfish.

I just don't know about you guys.

Alien here are the replies you will be getting:
1. don't worry about another man's money
2. it was jerry's fault
3. cooper sucked
4. dumb thread
5. get all you can dak, screw the team

I think I covered it.
I'm sure if Dak were here he'd say he got nothing in his first 4 years. But he was drafted in the 4th round for a reason. Sure he overperformed his draft spot but he hasn't played like a first round pick, but he was sure paid like one.

You can blame Dak for his lack of skill and talent.

You have to blame Jerry for giving him that contract though.
Exactly.

Dont blame Dak that Jerry is such an easy mark when it comes to contracts.................be it Zeke, Dak, or practically anybody else, Jerry just gets flat out abused in negotiations.

But getting mad at Dak because he dog walked Jerry on his contract is just dumb.

you have to blame dak too for not thinking about the future and what winning would have done for him. When you make the money these players make you're set for life plus they theoretically have a college degree so even the lowest paid players should never be "broke" or unable too "put food on the table" if dak woulda just thought about things instead of crying about how he cant put food on the table with his rookie contract

It’s true, but I think we have to assume most NFL players don’t care about their team winning the super bowl the same way fans do. They’re just good to receive the money.

I'm going to tell my boss, I didn't really work on Friday and suggest he take money off my paycheck. And tell him to give to Becky who worked all day.

It's really not fair to compare an NFL player with the average person. The average person's pay does not have a direct impact on everyone else around them. The average person isn't making millions of dollars to even have that choice at their disposal.

I don't blame Dak at all. But what we're seeing, and it's not just with Dak, is your average fan wants to win. Take Aaron Rodgers for example. What has he made, 300 million not counting endorsements. A man already bathing in gold coins, take a contract paying him 50M a year. Is it so terrible for a fan to hope he takes a team friendly deal so that they could win? Instead it's F the team, F Adams.

Similar in a way with Dak. Fans see him making 100M plus, they hold out the hope that he does something for the team. Because they see it as a ridiculous amount of money. Your average person doesn't have these options.
