Jerry should go all in on Daron Payne

That would transform our defense from very good to elite, i hope we can get it done.

But will Goodell let us put him next to the GOAT DT of all time Neville Gallimore?

Jerry needs to block out bargain bin boy Stephen and go all in on Payne. Opinions?
100 percent on board with this. Build up that defense for Quinn. Also. They need to stop rushing Parsons from the DE spot 98 percent of the game. Move him around. With Payne there they can rush both and cause some real problems.

I'm all for this too.

We know how it goes with us and high ticket FAs but if this is the year.....this is the player I'd like them to go after.

seeing noise about trading for Ramsay from the Rams but I'd prefer Payne and what he brings.

The two big moves I see are Elliott and Tyron Smith. Post June 6th cuts or trades can free up about $20 million in cap space.
They won’t do that. If they cut them it will be during the Spring so that they can get on with a new team sooner than later. They will give them the dignity. They always pull that crap for once good vet players…….

My only hope is that Jerry realizes he's old and this current way of being el cheapo in FA maxes out in the divisional and let SJ cry over the future cap when he kicks the bucket.

You can designate the cut as a June 1st but cut them in March. Just the cap savings won't apply till June 1st. That being said, Smith IMO has trade value. Unless they pull a JJ Watt and cut him so he can go to the team of his choice.

LOL.

We do this every year.

And then every year Jerry and his bozo son ignore making significant improvements at even one position in FA, instead trying to convince us their drafting is soooooo awesome that they can fix all their holes there.

Oh, I have no doubt will be "linked" to Payne and Tomlinson and a couple of other big time DTs and other FAs. But that's just Stephen and Jerry leaking stuff to the press to make it look like they are actually trying,. And we (including me at times) fall for it. Not this year. I don't believe they will be in or linked to any FA until that FA actually signs a Cowboys contract. Jerry and Stephen are bullcrap artists.

Only challenge with the post June cuts is that the cap space can't be used until then. Zekes remaining guaranteed dollars make that a better possibility for him. Straight cut for Tyron would free up about 9.5 million this season and leave nothing next year so I think that would be the way to go if parting ways.

Bingo.

People act like that money is available immediately. It's not. The Cowboys have to carry it until June 1. So if they want to use that $10 million saved at the start of FA, they have to actually create $10 million of space somewhere else that they then would technically "recoup" (for the lack of a better term) after June 1.

Just wait til Cap Boy has the franchise to run all to himself.
I honestly may check out at that point. I'll watch games. I'll cheer but I won't spend money attending a game or two anymore each year or spend a lot of time on this board. It will be pointless.

There is zero doubt in my mind that this team's shot at a SB is either while Jerry is alive and they get just downright lucky or one of the Jones' grandsons take over in 20+ years and actually knows what the hell he's doing (or hires a GM). Stephen will run this thing like the Lions have been run for who knows how long. It will be an utter disaster. Bad News Bears type of crap without the happy ending.

I believe Jeffrey Simmons from the Titans will be a FA this year. If he is available I would rather have him.
