NFL might ban hip drop tackle after Pollard injury

Out of the things they ask the defenders to do in the "Name of saftey" this is one of the easiest, "Dont throw your wieght into the back of thier legs while holding them from behind" much easier than "Change your trajectory to hit a small box as the player with the ball is moving" I get the whole "Make it flag football" argument but this is an easy ask compared to others they already ask.

That’s a trash twitter account. Don’t take anything they say seriously.

Crazy thing is if ward doesn't make that tackle then Pollard probably gets the 1st down, so all this move does is favor the offense more

Exactly. There’s a reason it was outlawed in Rugby, and no one thinks that’s flag football. A defender can still dive and tackle from behind or the side, can still drag a guy down from behind. At times the defender’s upper body will collapse against the legs of the runner, forcing him down. But the difference is not pulling the player backwards awkwardly while your hip rolls behind the runners knees sandwiching him. It’s exactly like the horse collar, only instead of just the defender’s weight sandwiching him backwards, you are adding the body weight rolling up the lower legs. Take the bad roll ups we see in the OL when the body of an OL or DL rolls up behind a lineman, only imagine adding the weight of another player pulling the upper body backwards at the same time.

Rollups on the interior line are tragic accidents that cannot be avoided. The hip drop tackle can be avoided and seldom happens by accident.

Pansies. Let's just have offense only. No Defense. What team can score the most amount of points wins!

Completely disagree. I'm almost done with football anyways, Cowboys will never change, Brady and Manning retired, having a hard time finding reasons to watch Football.

Still enjoy seeing Dak choke in big games. Will keep watching for that.

The problem is that coordinators are teaching how to tackle and cause injury at the same time. It might not be publicized, but that tackle is designed to cause aleg injury. It's dirty; borderline criminal.
If the NFL passed a rule allowing the team that has a player injured could choose one player from the offending team who has to sit out as long as the injured player is out, that crap would stop.

Similar tackle on Allen Hurns as well, but that dirty player purposely came down on his ankle, it could have been avoided.

Flag football coming soon. They will be testing it this year.
I love football as much as just about anyone. But it's plausible that many of us, me included, don't think much about how the game of football is hazardous to human anatomy and the nervous system. Part of the game, true.

That’s all the league is which is why complaining about not having a perfect defense is silly.

Keeping points low and creating turnovers is all you can ask for.
