Watched some TE tape tonight.
Dalton Kincaid is a flat-out stud. He is an unbelievably fluid mover and is truly a TE that runs like a WR. On top of that, he is smart and knows how to pick holes in zones, and just plucks the ball easily with natural hands. He kind of sucks as a blocker, but you're not drafting him to block. Kincaid is basically the spread offense "big slot" WR that was really en vogue last decade, and frankly, he looks a lot like Mark Andrews. Dude is a first rounder all day. I doubt he breaks the top 15 due to positional value, but he shouldn't last long after that.
Darnell Washington offers legitimate sixth OL level blocking. Georgia pulled him like crazy and he just annihilated people. If he goes to the 49ers and their extreme pull-heavy run scheme, they will win 10 Super Bowls and I am being dead serious. His receiving game is pretty basic, and his offense doesn't ask him to do much besides just run to the end zone and be 6'7" 270. But he moves well enough to make me think he could catch a few balls in the pros.
Washington is a rare talent at TE. Few college guys come into the league ready to block, even fewer of them are 270 lbs, and even fewer of them can run well. He is worth a 1st round pick to the right offense.
I'm going to withhold judgement on Michael Mayer for now. I watched 3 tapes of his: vs Ohio State, USC, and Virginia. The OSU tape was pretty rough... I was coming off of Kincaid's film, and Mayer looked like he was running in cement by comparison. He pretty much caught nothing but dumpoffs and looks really mediocre as a run blocker. But in the other two cutups, he straight-up looked a step faster and was bodying dudes in line. Then I noticed that both tapes were both from 2021.
I will say, that Mayer's volume stat line looks near identical to Kincaid's, and he put up big numbers 2 years in a row. So I am guessing the talent he showed last season didn't go away.
