We can totally upgrade the RB position

money aside, I do feel that this is a position of need. I’m a Zeke guy but it is crystal clear he is at the tail end of his career. Then you throw in Pollards injury. I think by franchising Pollard and drafting a young buck in the first couple of rounds, we’ve already upgraded the position
 
I would franchise Pollard and draft a quality back. Pollard is that much of a dynamic weapon you have to take the small risk. If his injury proves to be a prolonged issue then you’re only on the hook for one season.

What I don’t want to see is the team lean heavily on Malik Davis or Rico Dowdle.

Expect grandpa Jerry to start plugging Davis. It’s coming
 
The RB position should not demand high draft capital, nor does it demand a high salary cap allocation.

The Cowboys have grossly over-allocated resources to the position- at the expense of other more important positions on the team. They must break out of this way of thinking.
 
With the "massive" paycut the Cowboys have offered Zeke I wonder if even bringing him back they would still look for an RB to pair with Pollard. Pollard would be the feature back getting 15-20 touches, pair him with a rookie that gets 10-15 touches a game, then have Zeke be strictly the short yardage/goal line back which is the one area that he still thrives in.

For as great as Pollard was in 2022 it was tough to watch him continue to get stuffed on goal-line runs. You need that bigger body that can push the pile still.

Agree. Pollard is not big enough to push through a big wall of bodies for that tough goal-line run. Maybe they could hand the ball off to McGovern for short yardage to the goal line (like 1 yard of less) to punch it in. :D

Don't need to go that high. Good RB's this year in the 3rd and 4th. One could easily replace what Zeke brings. Only we would have a rookie deal for 4 years not overpaying Zeke. Pollard will be fine. Easily 100% by training camp.

What does that mean when you say "Im a Zeke guy"?

The moment we cut Zeke we upgrade the RB room. Like Collins, its addition by subtraction.

Agree with you on Roschon Johnson...he was not featured or used as much as Bijan was but he certainly has the same skill sets and talent. He is 6'2 and 223lbs, not exactly a scat back...he can take care of himself. Career average 5.6 ypc. Strong power and speed runner. Reminds me of a poor man's Barkley. Would love to have him wearing the Star.

I would be OK with it if we still had Sampklin, but we don't. He went to Indy.

Davis actually played pretty well and showed promise. Bone headed OC didn't give Davis the chance to show similarly to not letting Pollard show the previous season. Stuck On Zeke is a bad infliction. I'm glad I got rid of mine. I still love Zeke but there is plenty enough evidence to see that Zeke doesn't have it any more. Heck, his running style is nothing like it was in his early days. It's well past time to move on.
