Read again. Let Pollard walk, DM or JW.

Dead money on Zeke is already sunk cost.
Shouldn't play into what we decide to pay Pollard any more than dead cap for Collins.

People can argue against the money for Pollard, but I think he's worth it. Tagging him will be better money spent than the contracts of Gallup and Schulz last year.
If Pollard returns at full strength, hopefully he does and they don't screw up.

I don't know if I'd TAG Pollard. Isn't that based on the top 5 salaries?
Total Cash
  • Christian McCaffrey. SF, RB. $12,000,000.
  • Alvin Kamara. NO, RB. $11,000,000.
  • Aaron Jones. GB, RB. $11,000,000.
  • Dalvin Cook. MIN, RB. $11,000,000.
  • Ezekiel Elliott. DAL, RB. $10,900,000

I like Pollard, but don't want to spend $20m on a single RB - TAG + Zeke's dead money. (Assuming he doesn't take a major pay cut)

I think it is risky with the injury and there are plenty of backs available in the draft and free agency.

This is an interesting place considering:
1) Tony Pollard is 6'0 210 some of you act like he's 5'8 185.

2) TP has a 3 to 4 month injury. He'll be at TC participating.

3) Just because Pollard was a 4th round pick doesn't mean Dallas will hit on a guy this time around.

4) Crazy how you guys get a Top 5 RB in the league and want him gone or think he's replaceable by a rookie. How many rookies we're Top 5 rushers this season?

5) $10M for a weapon is a good deal, TP isn't just a RB.

6) Pollard was *underused*. He can handle more carries.
And he can certainly handle running a fly pattern right past most every LB in the league. It was grotesque that it took us until his 4th season to try it, and infuriating that having succeeded with a 60 yard td, we never tried it again.

3 is a big one. Bet the whole running game on hitting in the draft on a new RB?
Yeah, you *can* get guys in the 4th. That's why you should keep em coming. But we didn't, and *can* is not the same thing as *will*. We spent nothing behind Zeke, hit on Pollard, and have stood pat ever since, just rotating in and out practice squad fodder as the 3rd RB. We spent nothing, so we have no bench to draw on now that Pollard's contract is up, and we're thankfully finally free of guaranteed Zeke money.

Where was all this frugality last year when we signed Gallup to two guaranteed years each of more money than it will take to franchise Pollard? And Gallup with a much more serious injury than Pollard?

u dont want to invest in rb $$$ or high early draft pick

u want to invest in ol, qb, wr and just plug in late rd udfa rb and replace them all the time with fresher cheaper rb

If you can put a dynamite OL in place, there are a lot of RBs who can look like world beaters ..

It'll be a banner year to draft RBs, with a slew of good ones coming available in the upcoming draft. Word is out lately that Zeke wants out to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in lieu of accepting a big contract reduction.

I would let Pollard and Zeke walk and add 2 RBs through the draft or UDFA.
