Zeke can sign for 2.5 with incentives.
Who knows if he will, If he walks and we tag Pollard we will still have a huge amount of money going to the RB position which to me is a bad spot to have huge money in todays NFL.
If Zeke is gone its like 11.8 dead money + Pollard tag of 10 mill....that dont smell good

I'm willing to spend a little extra on a RB who can take a fly pattern to the house. Especially when we otherwise have nothing at RB for next year.

The new overpaid players are WRs. Pollard over Gallup every day.

It's a passing league. Receivers could be debated the second most important position on the field. There is only one Mahommes and he still I would argue had more offensive skill positions in comparison to Dak. Gallup was a major Cowboys blunder, keeping Amari instead who knows we could of been in the championship. Gallup was a detriment to this team last year. Amari would of restructured too, I would take any starter over Gallup. Hopefully they realize how important a number 2 is in a passing league, where the qb doesn't elevate the talent. No Dak hate, but he's 1.5 tiers below elite and needs alot of help.

Anyone who wants to franchise Pollard is crazy. Spending that much money when he is coming off an injury, usually gets hurt at some point in the season, and doesn’t have the body to be a feature back. It’s a typical lazy Jerry move - requires no thinking or work. Championship caliber teams don’t waste that much money on the running back position, but of course we will.
I would tag a healthy Pollard (a true weapon) before someone like Schultz (a QB Woobie). Pollard is a home run threat everytime the ball is in his hand. You tag weapons, not RB's.

Zeke is easily replaceable. Tony Pollard (pre-injury) is NOT.

money aside, I do feel that this is a position of need. I’m a Zeke guy but it is crystal clear he is at the tail end of his career. Then you throw in Pollards injury. I think by franchising Pollard and drafting a young buck in the first couple of rounds, we’ve already upgraded the position
Drafting a RB is a great move. Not sure about that early. We are losing our starting guard, a starting CB with another coming off injury, and we need to add a WR
I think a RB that can get 3.5 yards per carry can be had in almost any round

I’m with you about Shultz but not Pollard. He’s not worth a 10 million franchise tag - especially coming off an injury. And his body is not likely to hold up anyways for long. Like I said, contenders do not waste millions on the running back position like we always do.

Spend a mid-round draft pick (3rd-5th round pick) on a RB. There are typically good ones available there.Take two if you'd like. As long as the OL is a strength you can maintain a productive running game without having to invest major draft capital at the position.

It doesn't really matter as long as they replace his production. They didn't do that when Amari was traded for a ham sandwich... and I don't really trust them to replace Pollard properly either and he DID produce when he was on the field. Pollard is more than a running back in my eyes, so that argument is moot with me. I do agree on the injury concern. If he is the same Pollard, then definitely worth the money.

No tag. Let go of Zeke. Stack your RB draft board, and choose the top one left when you get to the 3rd, 4th or 5th round.

Add a premium guard and center if possible and let one of us zones tote the rock.

Zeke takes a paycut, sign David Montgomery or Jamaal Williams and draft an RB. Pollard is going to go high. Let someone else pay that.

I would franchise Pollard and draft a quality back. Pollard is that much of a dynamic weapon you have to take the small risk. If his injury proves to be a prolonged issue then you’re only on the hook for one season.

What I don’t want to see is the team lean heavily on Malik Davis or Rico Dowdle.
Has there been an estimated timeline for his recovery? All I've seen is that he should be back in time for training camp.

Davis actually played pretty well and showed promise. Bone headed OC didn't give Davis the chance to show similarly to not letting Pollard show the previous season. Stuck On Zeke is a bad infliction. I'm glad I got rid of mine. I still love Zeke but there is plenty enough evidence to see that Zeke doesn't have it any more. Heck, his running style is nothing like it was in his early days. It's well past time to move on.
Not saying he was bad but there’s nothing Davis did that gave me pause to drafting someone. I would just play my cards right and draft someone in the 2nd, a future starter so you can get rid of pollard next year if he didnt pan out

Yeah, to be honest I'm not worried about how the Zeke situation plays out either way unless the paycut isn't significant.

Dead money on Zeke is already sunk cost.
Shouldn't play into what we decide to pay Pollard any more than dead cap for Collins.

People can argue against the money for Pollard, but I think he's worth it. Tagging him will be better money spent than the contracts of Gallup and Schulz last year.
