Easiest position to draft and replace but this FO values all production to the extreme.
A good FO platoons the RB position by taking RBs in the draft every other year, mid rounds are acceptable.
We spend the 4th overall on Zeke and then discover that a 4th rounder like Pollard can be relevant and still never learn the very basic principles of team building.
Its mind blowing that these two idiots make so much money ruining the product they are managing.
They’re in a no-lose business. They can screw up sun up to sun down and still make over $200 million a year from the TV deals alone.

Zero accountability.

I watched the NFL just this past season and saw plenty of rookies play well immediately.

Care to talk about it?
So did I. But none are sure things. I also know a fan base that loves to complain about what we DONT have only to not want them when we finally do lol. Just wait until we pay Diggs and Lamb SOO MANY WHINERS will come out

And how soon people forget that Pollard himself was a fourth rounder.
well, this is my biggest issue with big paydays for RB's - the position isn't what it used to be anymore. that said, if we dump zeke (which i would be for) then pollard is our only proven back; and he's proven it time and time again.

not sure who would be around in FA that would be worth the pickup, but i'd think we need pollard for another year while we look at others in case he's too expensive next year.

Do we let him go after this year??
What would his deal look like if we extend him. He's tagged at 10+ million, is he going to want that every year of the deal??

If you get him 4-5 targets in the passing game and 14-16 touches in run game it can work out
CMC is a guy used to his strength. They don’t pound him between the tackles 20 times a game. He avg 14 touches in run game and 6 targets in passing game. Pollard should be used the same way. I’d even use a bunch of the same routes with him
however, they are both being use their numbers are nearly identical, so this pace is upset over this FT year for one CMC was hurt a lot in his career, hes the highest paid RB in the league , and he was traded for so draft picks and cash went out from the 9ers.. one move cant be genius and the other stupid. this place has doble standard and blinding hate for all moves by the FO and more not made.

hey zoners get over it its done you will watch him and dak play this year,

too bad, so sad ,you need tissue and some bon bons...? seems to me you need professional help.

Just maybe, some of those complaints are valid?

28 years plus with zero Championships says there’s plenty of room for criticism.

Just wait until we pay Diggs and Lamb SOO MANY WHINERS will come out
I think that’s dismissive to what could be valid criticism.

I think we could certainly draft one. Rookie running backs have done well for years and years.

And the guy we’re tagging was a fourth round pick himself.

Running back is now a meat grinder position. Chew em up and spit em out. The harsh reality. But don’t pay them big money. It’s a fungible position, easily replaced.

Obvious move. Basically the team loses Dalton, keeps Pollard and puts Zeke on notice.

What about a bunch of RB drafted who's either been cut or playing only on special teams last year? Draft is a calculated gamble. Not all pan out. Remember Joseph Randell and Tashard Choice?
Eh, the thing about RBs is there is always a good one out there somewhere.

Pollard is unique though. He can score from anywhere on the field.

I think the Cowboys have until July 5th? to work out a long term deal. My sense if that they don't get one done before the draft they will simply draft his replacement and rescind the tag. They cannot go into next season paying that much for a back who has yet to prove he can shoulder the load for a season. That's a 10 million dollar gamble I would not take. Maybe a rework with Zeke simplifies things for them. But no matter what they do we know they need more than one back. The question is how much are they going to spend on the position.

good

The amount of stupid people that will compare a 6/$90 million deal to a 1/$10 million deal as if they’re the same thing blows my mind.

The lesson to be learned from Zeke is to not lock up a running back to long term guaranteed money.
both ideas are bad. Especially when said player is a rb and injured.

You mean smart like replacing Murray with Randle?
Maybe you meant McFadden, but either way it's irrelevant because you're only focusing on Cowboys way.
Study the smart teams in this league and you begin to see a pattern that leads to success.

not at this point. the tag just means they will begin negotiations. but if he won't sign because he wants to eventually test FA, then this is the only way to keep our only productive back.
when he's healthy and we have no clue if he will be.
