So just lose 11mil for nothing? Pay cut, draft another rb as well, and just release him in 2024 without all the dead money theatrics. Of course there will be dead money but very minimal.

How come you guys aren't worried bout jerrys money when it comes to dead money. But are all in his money business when he signs somebody. Atleast you have a player, not just dead money with no player to show for it. And still have to spend more to replace him.

And people call Jerry incompetent.

I'll take Elliot at 7mil. It is what it is.

You'll be paying him with your money then Zeke isn't worth 7 million maybe to another team with loads of cap space

I’d like to see him used in the passing game a little more.

They need to draft one early and late this year for sure.
There are some solid RB’s who came from the mid rounds in the nfl
A stud may not be there but the difference in a solid and a stud is generally about .5 per carry

The duo in the front office prefers "doing it their way, baby!" We dont know who's worse, Tweedle Dum or Tweedle Dee. But they sure like their guys.
It’s like they completely ignore how the successful teams are doing things. And then next year wonder why things ‘didn’t work out’.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

This works if the plan is to move on from him after one year.

They really do need to remake the position, and it shouldn’t be all that difficult to do over a two off-season period.
I extend him for another 3. Pollard has been good since joining.

Sorry, but this is stupid. You can draft a back and get 90 percent of that productivity at about 5 percent of what you are going to pay for Pollard. That 10 million could have bought or resigned other players. Just stupid!!

Pay for itself if they designate Zeke a post June cut.
That makes sense until you realize we will be at 16+ mill cap hit for the RB position again this year, its simply too much cap to have at the RB position in todays NFL. Is TP a great weapon yes, but for that total your RB position needs to be VASTLY more productive than it was last year, like TP will need to be in the top 3-4 in recieveing also..he is good enough to be a huge threat in the passing game but can he hold up through 20+ touches a game which that number will need for justification.

How do you start negotiations with Pollard when he knows that he is way better than the guy you just paid 19 million to last year?

-Pollards agent: Ok, lets start at 25 million per year
-Jerry: What the heck are talking about?
-Pollard agent: Well Pollard made your boy Zeke look like a fat old women and you paid him 19 million. I figure my boy is worth at least 25.
-Jerry: Yah that was one of the dumbest things I ever did as a GM!!

Guys, he'll be getting a contract. There's no way he's staying on that franchise tag.

Zeke last 2 seasons.

400+ rushes
1800+ yds
22 TDs
Yeah, putting it like that sounds great, until you actually look at the individual seasons

2021: 237 rushing attempts, 1,002 yards, 4.2 ypc, 10 rushing TDs
2022: 231 rushing attempts, 876 yards, 3.8 ypc, 12 rushing TDs

He's a good goal line/short yardage guy now, but his contract is not a short yardage back contract.

2nd year in a row we are going to bank important offensive production on a playing returning from serious injury. This front office does not catch on quickly.
The chiefs banked on mahomes playing on the same injury in the Superbowl

Isthat now 25m+ in cap allocation for 2023 to the RB spot?

Now THAT is how you build a team....

Had to keep TP he was the only Playmaker besides CeeDee, and at $10M is a good deal for what he can do with a OC that can get most out of his talent. This move was a given, so I'm just waiting to see what happens with Zeke. Zeke's agent knows his market post combine, so news could come at anytime.

Glad Pollard is back!
Right there with you there. People always seem to be in a hurry to move past good football players. They're not nearly as easy to find as people make it out to be. I don't want the team on the hook for 25+ million in salary cap charge for the RB position unless they are going to turn into a ground and pound team which isn't bloody likely so the tag move was just the first in a series of moves that will need to be made at the position. For me the optimal solution was always going to be finding a cost effective way to keep both guys and draft an insurance guy. Much as I like Davis he is more TP than he is Zeke. This team still needs a Zeke type runner. A strong, tough, short yardage and red zone guy who will also pass protect. If they part ways with Zeke they still have that need. Bottom line is you always want as many good smart football players as you can find on your team!
