News: Are the Cowboys really about to release Zeke?

I get much more excited about watching young players come in with potential and develop. Especially skill position players. RB's.

Watching guys get old does nothing for me. And it stunts the growth or the transition to a young stud.
ONCE AGAIN.........that's the fan you are. I don't know how many other ways I Can say it. You don't have to understand why fans would be sad to see Zeke go. IF you don't understand it you never will.

It's not about helping now. They can still do things like cut Lewis and restructure Smith and save more cap.

But they can also roll that $11 million in June 1 cap savings into 2024 giving them more cap space that year which they are going to need with Lamb and others due for extensions.
Thanks, that was the type of info I as looking for. I knew it would help more for 2024, but did not realize it was that much.

hope so

i will give the off season a+ before the draft and fa if they move on from zeke

get young fresh legs in here

And then guys defend him talking about "stop accusing him of not being a fan"....at this point I Don't even think he pretends to be a fan lol.
That post was its own thread. Thats how much of a troll the guy is. Posting Zeke's last play saying its "historic" but leaving out the huge games hes had, the toughness hes shown, and his overall leadership at the same time.

Overpaid? Yes for sure. Did he produce at a high level for a while. Yes he did. Did he need to be cut. Yes he did. All of these can be true.

I don’t understand why we can’t trade him and two remaining comp picks. Unload the whole contract. Maybe we can get one pick back. I think Denver, chargers but Jerry and Stephen are idiots

Gonna see so much Bijan loving on here until the draft.
Bijan’s going top-22 unfortunately, especially after that combine performance. My guess is the Bucs at 19 since the Lions and Eagles both just signed RB’s yesterday. But the Chargers at 21 and Ravens at 22 both would gladly take him if he fell in their laps imo. Cowboys likely draft one in the 3rd or 4th Round, me thinks.

I have a lot of respect for Zeke and I wish him the best whatever happens. The NFL can be a cold business but at the end of the day results are everything. Zeke wanted a big contract and he got it. Now, it has become an Albatross around his neck. The old expression, "be careful what you wish for" is still a valid warning to those who want more.

I would keep him if he would play for $3 million but apparently he will not do that. Once he is waived, as a free agent, I doubt very much he will get what Dallas is due to pay him.

He was NOT a great Cowboy. Everything about him was overrated and a poor use of money and draft picks.

He had a few good years because he ran behind the best line the NFL at the time. Nothing a guy like Murray couldnt do or another very good back at the time.
What is Dak's excuse then? He looks broken down as well. Well, he was never top notch anyway. At least Zeke was at one point in time.

To be clear, I don't have an issue with Zeke being released. My issue is the disrespect shown to a player being cut. Especially, one that played through injuries the last couple of years when he could have checked it in and collect a paycheck on the sideline.

Thats exactly what I was trying to say.

There's zero guaranteed money left. Cut or trade same dead cap hit, due to prorated signing bonus.
No point in trading him with a pick.

And people wonder why players don’t give a crap about fans. Why should they? They want them to play for scraps and take borderline personal shots any chance they get. Somehow this perpetual loser franchise gets scapegoated time and time again by players who lay it all on the line day in and day out

I would think not, until I saw they let Noah Brown go. The sacred cows are beginning to fall.

Agree on all the above.

Do not attach yourself to any player.

They can be gone at anytime.

It only leads to emotional distress.
