No doubt about time flying. I actually got carded recently and I was pretty happy about it since I'm 51. I was like, really? How flattering.

The teenage son of a friend of mine was asking me about something a few years ago and I said I would email him the information. He gave me a weird look and said, "e-mail is for old people". Now that made me feel old.
My only form of communications i use :

1- face to face talking
2- calling by phone
3- letters by real mail
4 Emails ( for work stuff only)
---------------------
never used texting never will

I was helping clean out my friend’s mother’s garage and found some records. My friend’s son was with me in the room and he said “ Wow I didn’t know they made CD players that big to put those CDs in.” I told him they were records and you play them on a record player. He looked at me like I was from another planet.

It was an American.

You guys? I'm American, Oldsmobile were some of the best cars ever made and a major brand for years. The best car I ever had was an Oldsmobile Cutlass. Damn fine vehicle.

They were fast too.

Ehm yes. My reply referred to the sentence I quoted. It was said that someone asked what was an Oldsmobile. So I assumed that someone was an American. And I said that very few Europeans know about Oldsmobile. And in my opinion, as an European, at a certain point in time (early 80s) all American cars kinda looked the same lol. :)

Im the opposite, Im almost 40 and I love texting.....cant stand talking on the phone anymore, its awkward now.....
Well I don't mind. But I prefer talking directly to someone. I don't understand why people even try to text me about complex topics. If I break it up and call them, they react surprised most of the time but agree that we're faster talking about the issue. Texting is like a disease lol. Ok for short stuff as "you good?" but don't try to things longer than a sentence with me via text.

By the way, writing in a regular online forum seems to be a thing of the past. No kid I know under 25 does this lol.

Yup. If someone texts me more than a few lines, I call them. Texting a goldarned book is just rude.

That is one thing that does not bother me because I was 16 years old when the British Invasion began and I experienced the greatest music coming at me in droves with Motown, soul, beach and American all co-existing in this mix of incredible and soon to be innovative music.

Then came FM and the birth of the Album Oriented Rock format and what I could not think could get any better did. It was an amazing time to be alive.

I wouldn’t miss that in exchange for 20 years of youth.

The "Zoo" KZEW
The Zoo was an awesome station. When ZZ Top released their Fandango album, they were going to do a show in Dallas and The Zoo had a contest, whoever sends in the "most Texas thing" wins two tickets to the show. When we heard this announced, my brother was drinking a Lone Star beer in a can. He slugged it down, crushed the can and mailed it in a big ol' envelope to the Zoo for the contest. He didn't win the tickets, but he did win a copy of the new Fandango album. I still have that album today.

That could have been any european no matter what age at any time. You guys had some weird auto makers and at some point all your cars looked the same.

I know I know, blasphemy, being on an american forum and so on... couldn't resist though. :D
Many Europeans may not know Oldsmobiles, but they were pretty mainstream back in the day. Europe has had it's share of weird car manufacturers and cars, that's for sure.

On a slight tangent, years ago I was in Tenerife having a few cocktails with a couple of Brits and a couple Germans and the topic of cars came up. One of the Brits asked what I drove, at the time I had an old BMW 635. He nodded in approval and said " A 3.5 liter engine and he had never owned a car with anything bigger than 2 liters". I was kinda surprised and told him that was one of the smaller engines I've owned and used to have a Buick with a 403 which was almost 7 liters..... literally everyone at the table gasped out loud. :omg: He just said, "I guess it is true, everything is bigger in Texas" Everybody had a good laugh after that.
