I have seen several Cowboys mock drafts and this kids name seem to pop up in several of them late in the draft. I know McCarthy offenses over the years used FB as did other WCO offense. Guys like Tom Rathman SF and in GB with McCarthy John Kuhn. Do you think Cowboys will look to use a true FB especially short yardage?
 
I certainly hope so. I’ve been hoping for the return of the fullback position for years now. I think it brings an otherwise lacking physicality to a running game when you have a battering ram in the mix.

I very often Draft Luepke myself in the PFF Mock Draft Simulator.
 
Good question and something to keep an eye on. It's almost needed depending on what they do at the RB position. Zeke was the power runner who didn't need a lead blocker. Pollard is the exact opposite and will need a lead blocker or a FB to get the dirty yards in the red zone.

A FB is a must unless they get a short yardage specialist to replace Zeke on those situations.
 
Overview
Versatile fullback with experience as a tailback, tight end and Wildcat option. Luepke is a jack-of-all-trades who has posted an impressive touchdown-per-touch ratio as both a runner and pass-catcher. He’s expected to test well and has the ability to compete for reps as a core special-teamer. While he has soft hands and has shown some route-running savvy, he will need to prove himself as a lead blocker if he is to excite NFL offensive coordinators.

First strength needs to be lead blocking for a FB to see the field. Who is coming off the field so you can play a pass catching FB? Find me a FB who’s scouting report says ferocious lead blocker who rarely misses his assignment and is an average pass catcher and runner. I’d rather have him if I’m using a roster spot and want to do some power running.

I would prefer blocking to be their best attribute as well.

I’d think you could actually find a capable FB as an UDFA considering how low the demand is….slightly above zero.

No need to burn a pick even if MM wants to use one regularly.
 
He's going to be drafted higher than most expect he will. He is a real offensive weapon despite being a fullback .
 
I wouldn't mind seeing MM use a good fullback to advantage like they did in Green Bay. Hoping we'll get one with good all-around abilities to run, catch and block. It'd be like a return to the good old days of Darren Johnston if the new guy is successful. ;)

This kid is the real deal. I watched him in the championship game vs. JMU. Besides a big blocking FB, he's an amazing receiver who can actually get deep on the wheel route.

Can he consistently block and drive people out of the hole? That’s my biggest requirement.
 
If he can be a Peyton Hillis style back he adds value.

He might not be your guy then. I think he is very interesting prospect, in that he brings some skill as a runner and reciever. But Im not really blown away by him as a blocker. Probably good enough, but you arent talking a + lead blocker. I think he is more an old school H-Back than a true FB

5th, 6th or 7th, I think he brings alot diversity and utility (+ST player) to the table

He played primarily as a RB in the games I watched.

He runs well but is an upright and straight ahead runner.

His best skill appears to be as receiver.

He's also a top special teams player.
