Good news is Schultz will be available next year after he produces 500 yards and 5 tds at a discount!

I'm still surprised he ended up with only a 1 year deal.
Not me.

And I'm laughing at the guys who argued w/ me who claimed his value was 15 mil. One of the most ridiculous claims I've ever heard.

I can
If they did, it was last year.
Nope, just looked it up. We offered 3 years 36 mil.
I cannot for the life of me understand this. Looks like Schultz is quite simply getting really really bad advice. Maybe he was listening to the numbnuts on this site declaring he was the next man up and would get 15. Dummy.

It says they offered it this offseason? You have a link for that?

I'm a little surprised his market was so cold. He's had 3 straight productive seasons, so while he's never going to be elite, he proved that there is pretty much 0 chance he will suck. You'd think some team could use a steady-Eddie vet like that.

So basically....we gave the Texans Schultz when we made the Cook trade. Way to go Jerry... now your gonna compound the mistake by drafting a guy in the 1st round.

Just watch....
This makes absolutely no sense...............Cooks was traded for a 5th this year and a 6th next year, Schultz had nothing to do with the trade.

We did not give Schultz to anybody because he is a free agent and he chose to sign with the Texans for $9 million this year.

The Cowboys could have paid him that as well, they do have around $20 million in cap space currently, but decided he was not worth the contract.

I don't see why he would settle for a one year deal. I don't expect a year with the Texans to enhance his value the following season. He may end up wishing he had taken the Cowboys "fair" offer.

The Texans are obviously going to draft a QB with the 2nd overall pick in the draft. Considrfing the team, I expect this quarterback to struggle his rookie year which translates to Schultz struggling as well. If I was him, I wouldn't be too happy with my agent.

I'd really like to know what Dallas offered him.
Same. I like him and to my untrained eye, I thought him to be above average, actually. I'm for a dude playing as long as someone will pay and for him getting all he can get. Best luck, Dalton.

I like Shultz and he was missed when he got hurt. The poor San Fran game sealed his fate. We had many years before Witten got here and after Novacek left that we couldn’t find anyone remotely as good as Shultz. Would have liked to have kept him.
Yup.

Cheaper to pay him.

"Up to $9mil" means "less than 9 mil".

Spotrac had him at 15milAAV over 4 years. Just crazy talk. Factoring in the "up to" talk, Schultz is probably making half their projected AAV.

Probably, still overpaid.

His YPT was pathetic and beaten out by Ferguson for an apples to apples comparison on the same team.

Schultz is a classic JAG thrust into a high volume role. As Dak's safety valve, he simply got a lot of balls thrown to him. To his credit, he has good hands and is smart enough to find openings underneath. That said, he doesn't have the athleticism to get much down field nor the size to be a good blocker. I certainly don't hate him but I think that Ferguson and Hendershot will provide roughly the same output. There isn't much need to throw a lot more money at the position when there are pressing needs elsewhere (DT).

Looks like Schultz was part of the WR trade.

Both players are basically one year deals.

Sad to see so many nasty comments about a guy that gave all he had and then some to Dallas only to sign elsewhere due to Dallas not wanting him back. Would you slam your neighbor for trying to find a new job after in essence being fired from his old one all because he wants to feed his family and keep a roof over their head?

I like The Sargent and wouldn't be disappointed to see him stay, but he is a classic 'tweener' who might not fit in all that well on a run oriented offense.

Cowboys likely didn’t match the deal for Schultz.

Texans then made the WR deal.

Good deal for everyone.

Except Schultz.
